do they on computer and what discs are you using

Test the playback of songs on computer first. If they play ok, then you know the issue is either with the burning process or disk. Do you have appropriate CD burner software that can convert the files properly, is the CD disk of reasonable quality, are you burning too fast?

Some players do not like CD's burnt at high speed, some also don't like the high speed CD disks. For that reason I always burn at minimum speed possible, and also generally choose CD-R's that are low or medium speed abilities.

I tested out various CD-R brands & know which ones are reliable. I can tell you the super cheap ones may not burn properly (when played back will either skip or have distortion in background.) And the super cheap ones due to the way they are made will often wear out (the chemicals start to corode) & the player has difficulty reading them after either 6 or 12 months, resulting in again, distortion or skipping or slow to even start playing them.

Good quality CD-R's will last much longer & burn more reliably. :) (Whilst some new players nowadays can play CD-RW's, these are not recommended as they have a lower readability capability; lower reflectivity. CD-RW's are made differently to CD-R's.)

i noticed my last cdr's were TDK most would not play or load even though i used tdk before , switched to sony no more issues

There are sometimes bad batches with CD brands. They switch factories where they are made depending on demand & supply abilities. So quality can vary at times.

I notice TDK also have a variation of models of CD's (varying in quality.) I used to use TDK Gold. Believe it or not, I still have a supply of Kodak Gold left hidden away in a dark cool place. ;) They were always the best in their day. Pity Kodak stopped making CD's.

it was odd in 02 i had 3 spindles of tdk all work well
these i think i got at radio shack and the design is different about 30 of the 50 WOULD NOT load in my player , nor play but it would in my computer, dvd player and portable cd player
so i got myself some sony from walmart and they load like a charm
i like the colored sony cdrs too

Songs skipping

Hello, Thank-You both for your help. I have a Dell Intel Core 2 with windows vista. (Ihate it) I had windows xp before but my computer died. I use Memorex DVD-R cds. Up to 16x, 407GB, 120 min. Are they ok? I will play the songs before I burn them. Thank-You,
Mimi:super:

fyi DVDs are DVDs, and CDs are CDs...

DVD-R's will not play in CD players. ;)
Though you can create audio DVD's (two ways of doing it), they will only play on DVD-players.
