Bearflix Connection problem

I just reformatted my pc yesterday and today i reinstalled bearflix and i cant get it to work for nothing. Worked fine before i reformatted so im sure my isp isnt blocking p2p. I'm not 100% sure that i opened all the necessary ports in the windows firewall, but even so i turned it off as well with no luck and i checked my router and its not blocking nothing. Basically all i am getting now for searches are quicktime junk spam. The only thing i can come up with is the Bearflix configuration settings file isnt updating as necessary to keep me from firewalling everything. What was once a popular search i always looked up now comes up blank. Please help!

Edit- Im using Windows XP SP2, and bearshare and bearflix have both worked for 2 years now untill i reformatted.

See if this one works better: Sticky: BearShare has been sabotaged.

What colours are the four status lights in the top right corner?

Thank you! I read the last page of that and got the reply i was looking for, same problem another person had but in a different way... they bought bearflix pro and upgraded like I basically did just to a newer version but free. So i went along and uninstalled bearflix and switched the newest bearshare for the one in op. I guess i'll just stick with it cause its working and that newer skin of bearshare isnt very appealing and the other sets of problems.

And the status colors lights have always been the same since i first started using bearshare. 1st Green, and 4th Yellow always having the TCP i guess partially firewalled but thats never caused any problems. I do remember though reading along time ago about editing the freepeers config settings, but now i dont have to so cheers!

I think some adware came with that bearflix latest version though, so now i gotta find that bugger and get rid of it (darn random pop ups!). Thanks for the help.

That ad comes by script in the embedded web page on the search view. You
can block it in the Internet settings control panel by putting
www,bearshare.com into the restricted sites zone.

Which part of the BearFlix setup screens are you looking at?
