No connection after scan with ad-aware

I am a regular Bearshare user. NEver had problems, ever.

Suddenly yeasterday I wasn't ble to connect anymore to the network. I haven't changed anything in the settings, even opened the router port for BS (which i've never done before and I was still able to connect) but nothing changed. Bearshare wouldn't connect.

Any suggestions please??:Smilywais:

If Ad-Aware removed any files from the BearShare program folders
you can get it to restore them.

Enable the Hosts view and see if anything is happening in there.

If you're still having problems or Ad-Aware doesn't restore any files,
get BearDiag and post the resulting report at Technutopia, where the old
BearShare team is still operating.

Rare, AW... Very rare for Adaware to ever do anything to a BS file, right ?
I mean, I have NEVER seen that... Ever !

Wondering, davexxx, have you possibly enabled AdWatch ?
Doing so can be extremely problematic with any progs that need, in anyway, to alter registry values.
(Easy to get into some incredibly frustrating loops that will end with you uninstalling Adaware and then immediately bunging it right back in without AdWatch enabled !)

Also, you haven't exactly overwhelmed us here with any details, eh ?

I mean, WHAT BearShare version and what ELSE may have occurred and/or changed since your last successful BS session ?
What updates to whatever... ?

Sometimes an anti-spyware app will accidentally remove parts of
BearShare instead of the adware that sometimes came in the package.

U'r right ursula...I'll try to make myself clear.

Bearshare version 5.2.5 (i don't like the new one which is more of a chat)
I never had problems with it. Never had to modify the router, open ports or whatever.
One day I scan my pc with ad-aware (the free version, and I never used ad-watch, I don't even think I can in the free version). At the end of the scanning I delete some files that the program highlited and then started bearshare, which wouldn't connect.

I haven't changed any settings on the program or on the router settings. It just stopped working. I though I've deleted something useful. So I removed BS and reinstalled it again but with no change. I tried to check out the router and just in case I've opened the port for BS, something which I've never done before, and still no change.

I then turned on my laptop (with which I download from BS when I'm at uni), tried to see if it worked but (surprise surprise) it wouldn't connect either.

Now I have no idea what the hell is going on. Utorrent is working as usual, if I've changed something in the router/firewall settings that shouldn't work either.

Hope this makes the situation a bit clearer.

@aaron: I can't enter the host view as I haven't got the pro version. :(

Thanks for ur help lads.

The Hosts View is available in all versions. In fact, all of them are,
but you have to enable them in the View menu.
