Connection!

Okay Hi. I have recently downloaded BearShare and it says it can't connect to the Internet. Well, my Internet connection is perfect and all I have to do is register with BearShare.

Any suggestionsª :(

Is that all ?
How nice for you.

Some unfortunates out there sometimes have to configure their firewall.
Sad, isn't it ?

The real BearShare doesn't need registration, but fixing
that's the easy part. Rogers is definitely one of the most
customer-hostile ISPs on the planet, and they are probably
blocking all they can.

Your best shot is to get the beta version from here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html
…and then get the data files from here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/host-c...tml#post293970
…to preload it with a lot of good hosts to try connecting to.
(Once it gets started, it's a lot harder to stop.)

If you get a green light on the right side (There are four
status lights on the top right of the real thing) then you can
go into the Setup menu and turn on Ultrapeer mode in the
Service tab. That'll kick it into high gear and Rogers will
have a hard time stopping you.

If you're still not getting much traction change your port
number in Setup/Connection and set your firewall and
router or modem to let traffic in on that new port. Easy
instructions for firewalls and routers are here:

Yes, unfortunates like you.

If you haven't already figured it out, moron, I have checked my firewall.

But how nice for 'you' that Bearshare is in my trusted zone.

So the only sad thing here is you. :tease::nono:

Thank you so much.
I'm glad there are people out there who can help and know how to type/talk in ENGLISH unlike some people.
