I Am Exasperrated With Skinning!

 I have tried and tried, but I just can't figure out how to apply new skins to my limewire! I clicked on All Types on limewire, typed in Limewire Skins, and downloaded all that were available. I like them fine but, they are only the skins listed on the Get New Skins page. There are some really cool skins out there, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to do it!
I have followed the instructions on the skins page. I have put the files in saved, shared, and themes, but nothing. I had to create a themes folder for my limewire file. If someone could give me extremely detailed directions, I would so much appreciate it. I consider myself very capable with most things "computer", but this has got me stumped! I see by reading some of our other members threads that I am not the only one. There has got to be a simple easy to follow method, right?:bangh:

Hiya! I'm a complete novice with this sort of stuff and I had the same problem but this thread helped a lot: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...-limewire.html though I had to experiment a bit. I'll see if I can help with my new-found knowledge! :)

I don't know how apply skins unless they are directly downloaded from these forums or the Limewire Skins page but hopefully this will help a little!

The themes folder was very elusive on my computer too, though you shouldn't have to create one... try copying C:\Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\LimeWire\themes (or C:\Users\*\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire\themes if you use Vista) into the window address bar, replacing the * with your computer username.

If you've found it, what follows next is quite easy.

1. Go to the download skins page, and click to save your skin.
2. In the File Name box, add .lwtp to the skin's name e.g. 'ocean_theme' becomes 'ocean_theme.lwtp'
3. Change the File Type to 'all files' (Your computer will automatically want to save it as a "zip file")
4. Click Save. Open Limewire and and it should be there after clickling Refresh Skins.

Did this help at all? :)

Remember the Application Data folder is a 'Hidden' folder. So in order to find it you need to go to View options & choose show all hidden files & folders. :) You also need to do that if using the search option. ;)
