skin trouble, help the confuzzled newbie?

 i am soooooooooo confused and angry

i spent hours perfectly developing my own skin, colors are to tee and everthing...i even sketched it out and colored it on paper. i reallllllllllllllllllly want to use it...so, im on step 12 in the "step by step" intrustions in the "develop your own skin" page....here is what it says:

Launch LimeWire. Go to Options/ Themes and select your new theme. Click “Apply” and restart LimeWire.

two problems here:

1. is it normal that you must select "tools" from the master toolbar before you find "options"

2. when i select "options", there IS NO "themes" option in the selection space....AHHHHHHHHH!!!

....*whimpers in confusion* can no one help me!?!?

From earlier in the tutorial:
Quote:

LimeWire allows the user to choose the look and feel of the interface. Go to Menu, View, Apply Themes.

ok i think i might have gone wrong here:

Quote:

Zip up the new theme.txt and all the gifs into “anyname_theme.zip” (Do not include the folder they’re in.).

Change the file extension back to .lwtp. Your theme file should now be “anyname_theme.lwtp”. (Do not include the folder they’re in.).
im not sure i zipped up theme.txt and all of the gifs right....i have winzip, how would i go about "zipping them up"?

argggg....i just tried that and thanks for the help but it didnt work.

how would you zip everything in a file? i think thats where i messed up....so it might just be easier to start again and get more specific intrustions on how to so it works.

Zip Your Way To Happiness

Assuming your in Windows OS (I can't speak for MAC OS). To zip, (R) click on the folder you want to zip (or file) select "Compressed zip file" and it should zip the file for you. Best Of Luck

im having problems turning the zip file back into a lwtp file. there is no .zip at the end of the "nameoftheme_theme"and if i add .zip then the ".zip" part of "nameoftheme_theme" is just part of the name. and if i add .lwtp it just turns into "nameoftheme_theme.lwtp.zip"

FILE EXTENSIONS

You say you can't see your file extensions after you create a zip file or other file. The extension is there. My guess is that you have your file extension switch turned off. In XP I believe you will find it in your setup section that is where you turn on/off your display, hidden files, etc. You either see all file extensions or none. "Adding" .xxx to a file name doesn't make it ABC.xxx it makes it ABC.xxx.hiddenextension.
