Um... another skin thread

Is there a skin out there that doesn't use fancy colors or pictures? because i find that the skins out there are quite memory intensive

About the skins

I guess you could use these themes - valentine, pink, Limewire pro, Brown, or Ocean - they seem to be about average of 60KB.

Sorry you're having such a problem. 'Course I guess any "skin" that has colors and pictures might be a little memory intensive, maybe tatooed? :p

Not trying to be flippant, just a little humor there.

It might not actually be the skins fault then if its only about 60k. I do find limewire much slower while its actually downloading, especially while previewing (last time i tried i waited for 18 minutes just for media player to open... wasn't happy)

Maybe it's your internet?

I am no expert, I'm reasonably new at this myself, only since July of this year. But, you might check your internet speed. I do know that it has a lot to do with it.

Peace.

Hmm if LW is very busy, then other functions can be slowed down. Do you use the Resume/Finc Sources function on many files at once? If yes, then this can use up lots of both LW & your system's resources. Yes this function has side-FX when applied to too many files.

The other issue I'm thinking is your Java. Which version of Java do you have? You can find out be going to LW's menu bar, Help -> About LW. It will list both LW & Java version. Since LW is about 90% Java AFAIK, it needs fast operating version of Java. Problem is sometimes one version of Java runs better on some people's systems than another version & this can vary depending on particular system. I presume you use windows right?

OK, i use windows xp home sp2, i have the newest version of java and a 2.2Mb connection and i only ever try to preview one file at a time, but can wait into the region of 15 minutes just for the preview to run...

What is your video program you use to browse with?

Have you defragmented your HDD lately. Try it. See if it makes a difference. Also make sure you have at least 25% of your HDD free. Otherwise these things can slow your system down.

Thanks for the complement but I'm not expert of windows or mac. I'm not an expert of anything. Just a simple helper. (And a hard mod lol :D) BTW I greatly appreciate the compliment! :) Thank you!
It can be hard to convert video concepts from mac to win when there's no direct comparible app.

I have more than 50% free at the moment, and i defrag once a week. (it was defragged two days ago, so thats not the problem)
