I have the LimeWire Client 2.4.1 for linux, and have never seen anything like that... strange I say.

I completely agree. The protocol is well documented and would I think it would be easy for anyone with some determination to create a program that misbehaves.

Still, an excellent network, and hopefully not too many people would do something like the above.

Yes, it sounds like someone is just spamming up the network. This isn't LimeWire's fault at all. Thankfully, it's easy to block; just use the keyword or IP filter from the Tools->Options->Filters menu.
