Another new 'feature'... LimeWire 2.5.5 appears to shutdown (or possibly crash - but no error messages and it comes back up without a problem) when I start a DirectX game. W2K SP3, Java 1.4. I haven't done an exhaustive test, but LimeWire shuts down when I start up any one of a number of games. I am guessing that the issue is related to DirectX. There is a very good chance that the problem is also related to SP3 for W2K - i.e. the problem may actually have started after installing SP3. Mark |
Yea -- I found this too. It's actually a problem with W2k and Java. Any flavor of DirectX that goes fullscreen (even 2d things) will kill Java. It's a bug in the native windows code on JDK 1.4 -- I checked the java developer center and they do have it listed as a fixed bug... so hopefully the next version of the JVM will have it fixed. |
Thanks - that makes sense. I'll keep an eye open for the next JVM. Mark |
