Gnutella2 or G2

Does anyone know if LimeWire will connect to the new G2 network?

Thanks

Good question...

... it will be interesting to see if LimeWire adopts this protocol. Too early yet to determine its true worth.

LimeWire will not connect to ShareazaNet, which currently does not work any better than good old Gnutella. - The only advantage I currently see in ShareazaNet is its user base. The Shareaza beta testers are mostly online 24/7 and most of them have fast connections, so if you are connecting to ShareazaNet, you will probably see many fast downloads until the freeloading crowd jumps on ShareazaNet.

Hmmmm.... interesting.

I had a feeling Shareaza's "NEW" network was not any real big deal.

Hopefully the true benefit will be realized when LimeWire releases G.U.E.S.S. ;)

Isn't GUESS just the same idea as that which brought about G2??? According to Limewire, they're pretty much both the same if not very similar. Both aim to broaden your search horizon, thus making a search go out to every compatible client on the network, rather than just the leaves you're in tandem with the ultrapeer. Hopefully, when Team Limewire introduces GUESS, it will be fully compatible with G2.

I'd actually prefer if there was just one standard next gen rewriting of the Gnutella protocol to be adopted by all clients. No use having 2 gnutellas out there. What do you guys think?

Other Gnutella client developers are implementing GUESS so I expect that will be the new standard.

Thanks
