LW 3.02, OS10.2.6 disconnects

iMac DV, 450 hz, 320 ram, OS10.2.6, LW 3.02, DSL

Prefs set; sharing iTunes (2400+), cable/DSL, disable ultrapeer, search limit 15, 4stars only, all speeds, disable compression, port 6346, force IP

1. It take 5 mins. to finish counting all the files too share, but if I add one file, it then takes 30 mins... why? and everything slows way down until that number of files sharing are counted....

2. If I have more than a few (4) searches going concurrently, the app disconnects, doesn't respond to connect under file.... sometimes with in 5 mins, maybe 20, no pattern, I must quite & restart....

3. when LW manages to stay up, less than 25% of the file actually download, most end up "awaiting sources" and these are ALL 4 STARS!!

help Steve

ps. is there a step by step somewhere on how to set/check permissions? also firewall???

Some problems with LW on Os X.2.6 can be solved by using jum's build of LW which can be found here: http://baghira.han.de/~jum/

I hope that helps ya. Yes, there are step by step walkthroughs, search this forum and read threads of people with similiar problems.

Ok, what you need to do is simple. Go to the website, and click on the file that starts with Limewire Pro 3.0.2ju...

It will download, and it is a disk image that will expand automatically on OS X. Then, all you have to do is drag the folder to your applications folder (of whereever) and that's it. Simple as that. And boy, if the app a beaut. It fixed a major problem for me, and decreased memory, processor use as well as a few little GUI bugs having to do with "hiding" the window. It's a great program.

Blackbird,

You should ask the LimeWire team to fix those problems in the next version of LimeWire.

*chuckles* I'm not associated with the LW team in any way. However, jum (Jens-Uwe Mager) does contribute to the project. In fact, look at the about menu and there's jum. Jum does contribute, but jum's version focuses on fixing some of the problems unique to OS X. I don't know why they're not in the main version of LW, but I'm not a developer, and I'm sure there are legitimate reasons based on code and such, or perhaps time constraints.

Just about all the changes I did are submitted to the LimeWire folks, just the CPU reduction thing not yet. But the most important change to get rid of the installer and just do a drag and drop install is probably against the core LimeWire developers philosophy.

No, you just drag the app from the disk image to its new home and double click it there. No install programm required.
