Is LimeWire Open Source ?

Hi !

I'm a LimeWire fan and I would like to be a part of the open source effort. I just have one question.

Is Limewire really open source ?
The Limewire.org registration page does not work

I sent an email to webmaster@limewire.org and afisk@limewire.com but I received no reply. :(

After a few days, I am wondering wether LimeWire is an open source project. Like me, there are a lot of programmers out there who could help out but if we can't register, we can do nothing. Maybe you guys should host the project on Sourceforge ?

lw is positively open source and Adam is usually very good about answering emails.

Just give it another try.

The registration is a bit broken at the moment, but it's not necessary to be registered to view the source and/or contribute.

If you register to the mailing lists listed at http://www.limewire.org/project/www/MailingList.html (especially the core/gui dev) you can see discussion is active.

You can also view the code for the core, gui and tests by choosing the appropriate module at http://limewire.limewire.org/servlets/ProjectHome and then choosing "source" at the top. From here, you can either view the code in your browser or follow the instructions to download it via CVS.
