LimeWire 3.6.1 Beta

We've released LimeWire 3.6.1 in beta, available from your pro download page as well as from the free page at:

http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml

The new version makes relatively small changes over 3.6.0, including:

- A fix for a hanging problem on OS X 10.1 related to our new iTunes integration
- We will now display a message at the bottom of the screen indicating that LimeWire has located a newer version on the network. LimeWire used to only notify you the next time you started the program.
- We now reserve 3 ultrapeer and 3 leaf slots for non-LimeWire clients
- Stabilized download handling so that the "#" column in downloads does not fluctuate as much
- A "Previous" button in the "tip of the day" dialog windows
- More bug fixes

As announced with the 3.6.0 beta, this version also includes "out-of-band" results, which will give you results more quickly on searches for rare content.

As always, thanks for everyone's help testing the beta.

-The LimeWire Team

-The betas aren't available yet on my pro beta page, but the jum is (thanks Jens). The "signed versions" are logged on the gui mailing lists, but not the core.

-the LimeWire 3.6.1jum216 OS X.dmg incorrectly shows the "A newer version..." but can't be cancelled. Ugh.

-'Previous' button is welcome. Are tips randomly selected?

[How about gender specific "you don't need to buy the cow if you want a glass of milk" vs "don't get the pig if you just want some sausage"]

-Uploads are still very good. Did you fix a bug, or can OOB help uploading chunks????

Thanks again for the changelog and the progress. Good luck with p4p2p

The version thing is fixed in the 217 build.

Clicking the close box of an inactive search tab sometimes closes the active search tab. Just tried several times, and have seen this before.

OS 10.2.8; official LW 3.6.1 beta

Anyone else?

Me. I just looked into the code for the reason, and it is a race condition in the logic that determines which panel to delete if you click the box. It just kills the active tab, which may not be switched to yet if you click the close box of an inactive tab. I will work to fix this. For open sourcers, the methods killSearch and killSearchAtIndex should be removed and only a method with a ResultPanel argument should exist to kill a search panel.

I installed 3.6.1 over my previous 3.6.0 (which had been over 3.5.8, etc). Now, I've just seen that the LW MP3 Player had been re-activated at some point. I think I last used it (the Launch option) with 3.5.8, and it correctly launched WinAmp. So, sometime in the 3.6.x series it seems to have messed-up (reset?) my options.

Also, the Exit After Transfers still doesn't work. Last night, I had one upload going and was In Line for a download. I manually Disconnected and selected Exit After Transfer. This morning, LW was still running and when I opened it I found that my download had failed and there was one person Queued for an upload (not the same person/file from last night). Any idea what prevented the Exit command?

OK, I believe I have fixed that in build 218, please try it out.

Thanks jum--the fix worked.

Hi sdsalsero-

I think the "exit after transfers" feature is a little buggy, and it's on our list of things to look at. We should have this fixed sometime soon.

Not sure on the options mixup. That really should not happen, and I can't imagine what may have gone wrong. It's possible there's something wrong with our logic for checking for options settings in the installer, which I'll look at.

Thanks.
