Can't figure this out... Okay, I've gone through the forums...I downloaded 3.7.7 as was recommended (I'm using OSX 10.2.8 with the internal modem through AOL), I checked my Firewall settings... The problem: Once in a while, it will let me search, the rest of the time it will tell me that it can't find an internet connection. However, if I've done past searches, I can refresh them and continue to successfully download...so obviously I'm connected. I can even browse the files of the person I'm downloading from and download new. After installing 3.7.7, my light stays green, and it says I'm connected, but it won't allow me to search...saying the afformentioned message. Please, Help!!! |
Anybody?? Help, please!! |
Uploads and downloads can continue without hosts showing on the Connections page (the tranfers are taking place just like transfers from the web via http), so that might be why you see downloads resuming without the connection light being green. You need connections to the gnutella.net in order to relay search queries and to initiate downloads, but if your light is green, that means you are connected and should be able to search. Check View->Show/Hide->Connections to see the connection page. It should show you connected to 4 (6 if you use Pro) hosts. If the hosts are showing then disconnecting quickly, there might be a problem with your modem or further upstream. If you have stable connections, the searches should work. Is it just that the search button is greyed out? |
