LimeWire 3.7.10 Beta

We've released the LimeWire 3.7.10 beta, with the pro version available from a link on your pro download page, and the free version available from the LimeWire download page.

Changes in 3.7.9 and 3.7.10 include:
- Improved detection of whether or not an incoming connection can be made.
- Optimizations to users who upload & download large amounts of files (so basically, everyone).
- Even more improvements to help connect to the network faster, now using a UDP ping/pong scheme and making more intelligent use of the "has free leaf slots" and "has free ultrapeer slots" information in pongs.
- Handle previously uncaught (unknown/unseen) errors.
- Fixed distributed update mechanism for Mac Classic users.
- Fixes for internationalized sharing/searching.
- More fixes for the internal MP3 player.

The 3.7 series is very close to a full production release. Thank you to everyone, both beta-testers and open-source contributers for the invaluable help in shaping the future of LimeWire!

Thanks Sam--nice job to all once again.

btw--I've been running the 3.7.10jum275 (UP) since last night, and have noticed on at least 3 occasions all the LW hosts get cleared from the connections list. If this might be a bug, can you recommend a particular stat or situation to focus on?

Non-LW hosts persist, and other internet services were unaffected, so I tentatively ruled out an ISP outage.

I'll try to watch more closely with the official release.

Thanks for posting the change-log. Keep up the great work LW Team! :)

After running as an 3.7.10 UP for 15 hours I'm still seeing the LW hosts being dropped/kicked. Pretty unstable connections.

Gnucleus and Shareaza seem to benefit--they persist beyond 30 minutes.

That is very strange.

We'll look into it .... Any more info/details about the connection problem? Is anyone else seeing this?

I have a call in to my ISP. Here's more info--let me know if there are better stats to watch. (uploads are still going through--averaging 30KB/s out of the 100KB/s capped in the prefs)

[edit]for comparison, a second screenshot is posted several posts below (Uptime: 16:08:32 LimeWire version 3.7.9jum273). 3.7.9 also kicks connections though, so it's not just 3.7.10

Salut Sam and all, I can't tell yet if there is an UP problem with connections as I have been running as a leaf, but I do not seem to get connections that last more than 1 hour with 3.7.10 (this not show 100% that LW as a defect as my ISP changes my IP address quite often in the last week, but...). Also, the french caracters (é, à, ù, è,...) are shown as squares in the library and in the upload window while they were displayed correctly with earlier 3.7.x betas :(

Ciao

We're looking into the dropping of hosts.

Regarding the squares, try changing the theme? Which theme were you using?

et voilà January 31st, 2004 09:47 AM

Yep it was the "limewire theme", the "os x" one shows the accents.

Merci :p
