how do i stop sharing but keep my files?

What you do is open LimeWire if it is not already open, go to the tools menu and come down to Options. When the window comes up, click "sharing" from the list of other options. From there you can remove the folder or files being shared. The green light at the bottom of LimeWire will tell you how many files you are sharing. Nothing will be deleted. I hope this helps.
