3.8.4 problems
 

I just have downloaded the new lime wire version (3.8.4 International) and I've found that the percentage numbers that appears in the progress bar of the downloads, aren't nearly visible, also the OK and Cancel buttons of the Tools>Options Menu. Is this a bug?, I'ld also wanted to know what does "Turbo charged" and "Magnetmix" means. Thanks and I'll wait for your response.

Bad font, you're using. I don't know how to change it. Try downloading a few other themes or so.

As an alternative you could try installing the latest JRE (1.5.0) from http://java.sun.com the International installer unfortunately comes with the older Java 1.3.1 (don't know why).

It just seems that the default core fonts for Windows XP are not present or have been replaced by modified versions with higher line heights.

Normally, the theme used there (the default LimeWire theme) should use the same default fonts found in the Java Runtime.
Reinstalling or upgrading Java may not always change things because Java is supposed to be using core fonts appropriate for the corresponding platform.

So what is the native platform exactly? Which version of Windows XP is used (language of the Windows XP installer)?

I suspect that this may be a Thai version of Windows XP (because Thai characters need a higher line height to align the Thai text with the Latin text at the same point size...) And that Windows core fonts like Arial have been replaced by non-Microsoft fonts.

This problem may also be caused by the graphics card driver, if it's obsolete and was built for elder versions of Windows...

I had a similar problem with 2 other apps in XP, where the bottom got cut off like that, and text was misplaced. One was solved by changing the appearance theme w/in display settings, and the other was solved by changing the screen resolution from 8x6 to 1024x768.

Mine does this as well. Yes my Thai is enabled, however when I switch to MS fonts (no Thai support) same problem. I am already using the 1024X768 resolution. Does anyone have a suggestion? Can I change the font in Limewire or does it simply use default system fonts?

Use the English installer instead of the International installer, and upgrade your java by going to java.com. (If you've done one of thsoe two, just do the other.) You also posted this in a very old thread -- your version is 4.1+, and the thread is for 3.8.

I will try the things you mentioned, though with the English version would that inhibit my ability to search in Thai?

Sorry for posting on an old topic, I am an avid forum user and usually fellow members ask that you do a simple search prior to posting the same old questions. I did a search and this is the topic that applied most to my issue so I replied.

No problem about the thread. Just odd seeing a question about a newer version in a thread that's titled with the older one. :)

The installers are poorly named. Both will install the absolute same version of LimeWire. The International one just installs an older version of Java that we can guarantee will display all international characters. The "English" installer will probably also display Thai.

By the way, we're in need of a Thai translation for LimeWire. If you'd like to help, check out http://limewire.org/translate.shtml . It has all the information you need to do a translation.

Yes actually I volunteered but no reply through e-mail. I downloaded the text file and think I figured it out. I have the first few pages finished, but after the first few are scrolled through the text (in Wordpad) changes from green to black, I didn't know is the file to be translated from top all the way to bottom?

Translating it is pretty straightforward. Each line preceeded by "#?" means that the message isn't translated. The English version is just above it, preceeded by '####'. You just need to erase the #? and add the translated string after the '='.

There should be an area that says where the translations begin and another one way way below that says something about everything after it being optional. Everything between those two points is what's useful for translating.

I'm not sure why Wordpad would change color... might be it just couldn't handle the amount of text.
