Morpheus 4.0.6

Dear et voilà

What is Morpheus?

Is it a virus, browser hijacker or what?

et voilà June 13th, 2004 11:22 AM

Salut UK Bob, it is all that and even worse :D

Seriously, it is a P2P program with spywares. A frankenstein P2P program, that incorcopated the source of other P2P apps like Gnucleus and Mldonkey. Their devs are only able to write an ugly GUI, not a core protocol. The worse is that it takes from gnutella (the network LW is on) and it is giving nothing back. The devs behind Morpheus are idiots and try to kill other networks by its parasitic behaviour. LW introduced banning of Morpheus clients but since versions 4.0.5 and 4.0.6 of Morpheus, Morph can again download and leech from LW clients along with other legitimate gnutella clients like bearshare and GTK-gnutella (they got around the blocking by vendor spoofing, the reaction of desesperate clients).

Thus we all want the death of streamcast (cie behind morpheus) so P2P becomes a better place for all in terms of search results and download speeds.

Ciao

Morpheus 4.0.6

Dear et voilà

This parasitic frankenstein is indeed a threat to all LW, and associate, users. It is clear that LW and the other P2Ps will have to collaborate on a protocol/code that excludes parasites from becoming part our extended group.

Let's hope that the LW and other P2P developers can come together and keep morpheus where it belongs, in the backwash of the internet where all the other con artists and scammers dwell.

Exclusion option?

Is it possible for LW to offer a feature that lets us exclude downloader types?

Just a thought -- as for now if it says Morpheus, I just click the cancel upload...

Vampmon June 14th, 2004 11:13 AM

Oh come on, LimeWire had its bad days, anyway Morpheus is NOT a virus or anything like that. The next release of Morpheus should be "LimeWire standards" so no more bitching ok?

et voilà June 14th, 2004 03:50 PM

Lol @ Vampmon!!!!

LW days never been that dark. The dark days from Morpheus are there since it is on gnutella ie more than 2 ****ying years!!!

Lol again, yeah they'll only rip the new GnucDNA code those thieves and profitors!!! Plus Morpheus will still be multinetwork thus giving less to LW than it takes.

Vampmon really, its hard to think you'll have valid reasons some day... I mean we are not even discussing as I'm destroying your pitiful arguments SOOO easily.

Die streamcast, die.

Plus I'm banning again all Morph nodes from my client.

People are free to use whatever they feel, but using Morp is criminal.

Ciao

PS: Vampmon what bad days are you talking about for LW??? I've been using it since 1.3 and don't recall those.
PS2: Vampmon are you tired to say: yeah but the next release is gonna behave good. ? Will you say that in two years from now also? I'm beginning to be tired to repeat and explain things in many different threads to you. Things that you don't even seem to understand.

Mule June 15th, 2004 05:41 AM

How do you ban Morph nodes?

et voilà l'invité June 15th, 2004 07:15 AM

in options -filter - ban ip address (if I recall correctly) I'm banning them when I see them dling from me. You can also modify and compile the LW source code at limewire.org to ban morph nodes, but it is quite difficult...

Ciao
