LimeWire 4.1.2 Beta

The LimeWire 4.1.2 Beta has been released. Pro users can download it from their personal download page. The free version is available at the
LimeWire Beta Page.

Changes in LimeWire 4.1.2 include:
- Windows versions now use a new LimeWire.exe that launches LimeWire itself, instead of relying on javaw. This will help with recognizing LimeWire in firewalls & Task Manager. The new executable will also always use the most recent installed Java on your computer, which should solve some problems people experienced with LimeWire being unable to locate a suitable Java Runtime Environment.
- A newer & more refined look & feel for all non OSX skins (this is all skins on Windows, and all skins except Pinstripes & Metal on OSX) if using Java 1.4 or later.
- A new, prettier, Lime icon (instead of the plug) on non OSX systems.
- Better management of downloads that are not active, using less resources.
- Various fixes to the File-View HTML page.
- Removal of "wishlist" downloads.
- Typing backspace or delete on a row in a table will now remove that row (delete a file in the library, remove a connection, kill a download or upload, etc...).

Future beta versions will contain some more fantastic improvements to both the internals & externals, such as the addition of drag & drop (drag files directly from the library to anywhere on your computer, or drop a folder in LimeWire and have it be shared), greatly improved iTunes integration (on Windows too!), and even more!

Thanks,
The LimeWire Team

Magnet downloads enabled?

Looking forward to testing 4.1.2, and wonder if this version handles download of magnet links as described in the previous 4.1.1 beta feedback provided in detail in the following discussion forum post:

4.1.1 Magnet Test Results -- Pass and Fail
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...5&pagenumber=2

About mid-way down on the above page there's a post I started called "4.1.1 Magnet Test Results -- Pass and Fail" which is rather long and ends with my post "Magnets and Medical Apps".

An important note about the above discussion is that I wasn't asking for auto-search, only that magnet links start downloading (based on the xt=urn:sha1: info) rather than using only the hard-coded IP address specified by the xs magnet attribute. Most of the above 4.1.1. magnet test results discussuion was spent clarifying that auto-searching isn't requested, only implementing the magnet links more completely. Hope that makes sense?

Beta download?

Hello. I downloaded the beta update but it removed my pro version. Had to uninstall the beta program. How can I do this right and does it help? Thanks in advance!

Don Brown,

The Pro beta version is usually available at the bottom of your personal pro download page but it seems to have disapeared.

sberlin, can you help?

Add download/beta to the URL and that should work.

Thanks

Why did the version number get taken off? In the past when I went to my Pro page it said the LimeWire version at the top. How will users know what version they are downloading? Could this be looked into along with the beta link? Thanks.

Beta download?

Thanks for the quick responce. I have only been using Limewire for 4 days and so far I do like all the features. Can't wait to try the Beta version. Oh, I really didn't understand Gregs responce about the url thing, sorry!

He means on your personal download page, in the address bar you'll see something like:

All you have to do is add the word "beta" at the end of that URL so you'll have:

That is not a real link though, you'll have to do that in you're own personal download page.
