LW 4.1.4 takes forever to connect and freezes

I have just installed 4.1.4.
I have a dsl connection on an imac G3 400 with 640 MB
Memory and osx 10.3.5. OSX Firewall is disabled for Gnutella/Limewire

Limewire now takes forever (several minutes) to
find three ultrapeers. With LW 4.0.x, it took a few seconds
for five ultrapeers.

Wait a second... LW has just completely frozen after i hit
"find new sources" for 9 items.

task manager says it still uses 440 MB of memory with
35 tasks, and 14% of cpu speed.

Anyone got the solution??

Thanks in advance,

Dont know how and why, but it has stopped doing this all of a sudden
and is now tame (for now)

(some minutes later)

it has frozen again after i did the "find new sources" trick again.
Well, at least the user interface has, as downloads continue
(but none of those i wanted to resume)

There is indeed a way to produce a deadlock by pressing the resume button. I just had the same and did a kill -QUIT lime_pid on Mac OS X which does a stack dump of all processes and does a deadlock analysis and there is deadlock via these code paths:

Code:

"TimerRunner":
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.downloader.ManagedDownloader.getRemainingStateTime(ManagedDownloader.java:3459)
        - waiting to lock <0x62ff2da8> (a com.limegroup.gnutella.downloader.ManagedDownloader)
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.DownloadManager$2.run(DownloadManager.java:195)
        - locked <0x62cb7180> (a com.limegroup.gnutella.DownloadManager)
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.util.SimpleTimerTask.runAndReschedule(SimpleTimer.java:196)
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.util.SimpleTimer$TimerRunnerThread.managedRun(SimpleTimer.java:119)
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.util.ManagedThread.run(ManagedThread.java:49)

"AWT-EventQueue-0":
        at com.limegroup.gnutella.DownloadManager.sendQuery(DownloadManager.java:881)
        - waiting to lock <0x62cb7180> (a com.limegroup.gnutella.DownloadManager)

        at com.limegroup.gnutella.downloader.ManagedDownloader.resume(ManagedDownloader.java:1489)
        - locked <0x62ff2da8> (a com.limegroup.gnutella.downloader.ManagedDownloader)

Thanks for reporting this, marvin & jum -- it's fixed in our development version and will be in the next beta release.

I have been accused several times of locking programs by
simply being in the same room... although usually that
happens with Windows(tm). Glad that for once in a while
it wasnt me (so i hope...)

I actually have a friend (well, a friend of a friend) who could break any electrical appliance just by being near it. She went through about a half dozen computers before simply giving up -- and whenever she tried to use someone else's computer, the computer would stop running after a short period of time. :)
