Beta 4.9.7 not resuming downloads

Greetings, some people have witnessed that LimeWire downloads do not resume even when doing a search and finding a source for the file.

We'd like to get as much feedback on this as possible. Feel free to send us any information you can - here are few suggestions of what would be helpful:

1. Did you restart LimeWire after starting the download, before it got stuck? If Yes - what state was the download before you restarted, and what was it afterwards?
2. Did you click on Find more sources, and did the download ever change from "Waiting for sources..." ?
3. How many other downloads did you have active?
4. How many "Possible hosts" did the download have? If you had to restart LimeWire, did that number change?
5. Did you start the download from a search result, magnet, or did you resume it from a previous incomplete file?
6. If you did a search: did the icon on the search result for the download change to a folder or torn paper? Did the number of "Possible hosts" change after receiving the search result?

Another thing that will help us is to get a stack trace. Instructions how to do that on Windows are in a sticky thread on top of this forum.

Again, thank you for your feedback. There probably will be more information we will need to nail this bug down, so this posting may get updated.

1)I guess the trick is to start a download, let it download for a couple of minutes, shutdowning LW then restart it.

2)no

3)0

4)search result

5)don't remember the icon, yes got more sources through the mesh afterwards

I had 124 known sources, upon restart LW tried 3 of those sources it remembered (low number?) 2 were invalid, one was and it was a LW 4.9.4

Here is the stack trace will after start up LW was trying to connect to hosts for resuming the download.

From what you are saying seems like LimeWire did eventually resume the download, or is that not the case?

It resumed from one host that was not connected to the download mesh, meaning a one host dl even knowing there was many more sources on Gnutella. There is too much of a sources forgetting here.

I have one question: why in library, in the column sources, it indicates only the # of sources that are under the "other valid sources" section of help bubbles (what is the term in english?) when you let your mouse over the download? Shouldn't sources you dl from actually be counted as sources in the library? Does LW actually consider the sources you are downloading from to resume downloads?

Ciao

Item by item checklist.

1. I started and restarted LimeWire (exit program) when it would freeze. I would stop (cancel) a download when it froze (downloading 0 kb) and go back to the original file, click on download and it would start right where it left off at 25%, 45%, or 75% or whatever complete.

2. Clicked to find more sources. changed to queded, to waiting 299 sec to need more sources at the same time my search panel is showing me numerous sources available.

3. I had 7 downloads listed but only 3 were downloading actively if you call 1 to 2 kb active. I previously was doing quite a bit better with 4.9.5, with speeds of 100+ on some.

4 After restarting LimeWire I HAD to do another search to get the max number of resources available to download from. Sometimes the number would vary but not substantually.

5. I would usually wait to see if the file would retart. Some did, some didn't. I would do another search for the same file and if the file restarted fine, but usually i didn't.

6. torn paper most of the time. So I killed the download, and restarted it at which time it showed me an open folder and the download restarted at the last known position.

The problem is fixed in CVS and will be out in the next beta - ETA later today or tomorrow.
