LW 4.9.8 Pro unable to connect

I have had no problems with any of the betas until now. I'm running Win2000-SP4 with JRE 1.5.0_04 and a Linksys uPnP router. I installed the latest 4.9.8-Pro beta over the top of the previous 4.9.7-Pro beta and now it is unable to get a connection to the Gnutella web.

In the Connections screen, I see screen after screen of IP addresses scroll by unsuccessfully.

P.S. The firewall indicator correctly detects the presence of my router.

check your firewall software if any. port forward, and you should be good to go.

I'm not running any firewall sw.

I'm not sure if I'm forwarding any ports either, i.e., I've been relying on the new UPnP service to open the appropriate ports on-the-fly. Maybe the UPnP support is broken?...

You should be able to see on the router web interface if LimeWire has managed to open its two ports.

Also, make sure UPnP supoprt is enabled on the router... it usually is on Linksys, but check to make sure.

My router is correctly configured; the only 'variable' here is LW 4.9.8.

You may need to take the same steps I did.

COMPLETELY uninstall and REMOVE LimeWire from your computer starting with file search and going to regedit. Complete removal.

Defrag and restart.

CLEAN install of LimeWire Pro 4.9.8. No guarantees, but it worked so far for me. Your SHARE and INCOMPLETE folders will be picked up by the new install.

Good Luck.

I manually created port-forwards and it worked. I then tried removing the manual entries, and it still worked. So, I dunno. Anyways, on to testing 4.9.9 !

Good Luck on the 4.9.9........When I reactivated the 4.9.8 it showed me the "update available" message so I went there. Damn, It gave me the Basic update to 4.9.9 and not the BETA PRO. I was running PRO before, but my subscription has lapsed. I did think though that I could use the 4.9.9 BETA for testing purposes. So I went back got the PRO 4.9.9, reinstalled and am now waiting....waiting....waiting for a turbo charged connection. So far I went from POOR to FAIR.....waiting....no firewall interruptions though.....waiting......downloading 84kb/s in fair mode....wating....wonder what TURBOCHARGED will bring.............
waiting..........................now GOOD.....45kb/s...gray screen........waiting............EXCELLENT...59kb/s DAMN I checked connection status...I'm an ULTRAPEER with 25 connections, downloading 15 at 40 kb/s and uplaoding 20 active @36kb/s and 9 queued.

I AM A VERY POPULAR FELLA WITH AN EXCELLANT CONNEDTION. WONDER WHAT TURBOCHARGED WILL BE LIKE.....waiting 30 minutes now......waiting.................................. .........
