Only when my backs turned

Does anyone know why limewire would closedown for no obvious reason. it only seems to happen when i'm away from the machine for about 15 minutes or so. its annoying cause i can't leave it doing a big download and go to bed or better still get slaughtered in the pub and have a film to watch when i get back. i thought it may have been the screensaver, but no.

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider?
10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
11. What process do you go thru for the 1st 20 mins of using LW? Please give us details.
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

Do you use a screensaver? If yes, that could be the problem. I've heard of screensavers interfering before. It might be better to just turn the monitor off instead (& disable the screensaver whilst LW is open.) That's what I do.

screensaver

that was my first thought, i've turned my screensaver off and it still happens. i've since discovered that l/w closes down sometimes when its just minimized and i'm doing other stuff but a lot less often.

Sorry I missed your mention of the screensaver in your 1st post.

Well I could suggest a few things which might fix it. But I don't know whether any particular one will necessarily fix it.
1. Change LW's compatibility mode to win 2k (see point 4 in this link: Fixes for Limewire
2. Update your Java to 1.5
3. Reduce your shares slightly but only if you share over 1,000 files.
4. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue!

You might not be keen on the last 2 suggestions. Try the 1st one or 2 suggestions anyway.
