Confusing notices

Immediately after downloading and Installing I was hit with an update message. I was under the impression that I was purchaseing the current version when I paid 47.29 usd. But wanting I went ahead with the purchase of the upgrade to V4.9 with payment through PayPal for 18.88 USD. When downloading the update it turned out to be the same version I had already purchased 4.8.1.

I have received conformation of both of my purchases so my e-mail address is in their system. However when I try and contact Customer Support I am asked for my e-mail address and when I enter the same address as my conformation e-mails were sent a message displays that it "is not a valid LimeWire PRO email.
Try again with a different email address".

Unless I am missing something these people are hideing from their customers and or neglecting their web site.

If someone has their ear at Lime Wire please forward this. I am not intending to start a Flame but need to make contact and get some answers.

TIA WCM

Where did you download you version, and how much did you pay?

mtntravler September 12th, 2005 10:54 PM

Never mind cost, I didn't read your post correctly. When did you download it?

wcm September 12th, 2005 10:58 PM

From Lime Wire's web site http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml

$47.29 and then $18.88 for the supposed upgrade...

Friday Sept. 9...

I don't understand the $47.29. $18.88 Gets you Pro and six months of updates. Are you saying that you paid a total of $66.17 for 4.8.1 pro? If so, you got scammed somehow.

I'm wondering if you have a hijacker on your system. Do you have an anti spyware program? If so, you might want to run it. Also a virus scan.

wcm September 12th, 2005 11:13 PM

That's my thought. Either someone is traping their site or the site is totaly corupt...

wcm September 12th, 2005 11:14 PM

Does anyone have a Phone number for thesr guys?

mtntravler September 12th, 2005 11:54 PM

Doubtful you will find a number on a message board. There would be a million people calling it from around the world. Have you run the spy sweep and virus sweep yet? Do that first. Then see if your email works on this page? http://www.limewire.com/sales/englis...pro_lookup.jsp

If not, you were re-routed somewhere else, and should have your those charges refused by your bank if you can.

mtntravler is right, it looks like you were hijacked away from the proper LW site and dumped into a scam site.

Recently another member (cutiepatutie) was hijacked away from LW and, like you, dropped into a scam site. Here is the link into that sorry story:

If your PC is unprotected I would strongly suggest that you run the following anti-spyware apps on your PC to clean it out, i.e. MS Anti-Spyware, Spybot and Ad-Aware, then get yourself, at the very least, an anti-virus app and a firewall.

UK Bob

PS. It seems that hi-jacking LW customers are on the increase, all internet users must protect their PCs before carrying out any financial transactions.
