Upload limit not working

Posting in beta section becuase everybody else has run out of ideas to try. I can set the upload limit down to 12KB/s and it will still hit 45. When it hits about 45 it knocks all my downloads offline. With 5mb down and 512k up I should be able to hold 38KB/S fine. When I can find the sources I can hold 350KB/s down if uploads behave. Ultrapeers is off. Currently set at 4 slots 12KB/s. Not sharing partial files.I have ran a complete virus scan with f-prot and at trendmicro both come back clean. I have removed and reinstalled java from a different source.

FC432bit
LW4.10.9(started with 4.10.3 and 4.10.5)
Java 1.5.06

Any ideas?

There was a version a while back that had that problem. But I have not seen it in a while try running 1 slot.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that a while back and had no luck. I will try it again, it might have been any ealier (.4 ?) version.

Thanks

upload

I too have found that upload limits don't work.Have theoretically limited uploads to 4 users,(and set to upload completed files only) but neither work. Here I am downloading at 2-3 KB's while 15 people are uploading at 30 KB's.(and another 10 waiting in line!),If I kill these my download jumps up,but I can't sit here for hours "killing" uploads consatantly. Will have to abandom Limewire soon, even with DSL it is taking hours to download even small items while freeloaders suck stuff out of my PC like crazy

Halcyon, your problem seems strange to me and one I certainly have never encountered. I suggest deleting your preference folder while Limewire is COMPLETELY closed. see this thread for more information:-

Let us know if this helps

Halcyon

I have been able to keep my downloads online by dropping my upload limit down to 12KB/s(which actually keeps them below about 38KB/s). It is sad (comunity wise) that the upload limit will not "hold" well enough to allow for full bandwidth uploads, but it seems to work.

I am trying gtk-gnutella but it is pretty slow. Finds obscure files very well. I would try my suggestion for a week or so and see how it works. If you do switch and find something good please let me know.

Thanks

Just curious but what do you have your connection set at T3,T1,Cable ?

lazlow March 2nd, 2006 07:11 PM

Cable

T1&T3 do not allow you to got below 50 KB/s(I do not remeber exactly but it is higher than I can afford) on the upload limit.

Thanks

Try deleting you .limewire folder and see if that helps.

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420

Never mind I see you already tried that. Have you tried uninstalling then deleting your limewire file in C:/Documents and settings/user name/application data.

I see you have tried allot of things but it seems to me it has to be a preference settings problem due to the fact that it is carrying over to every version you install. Be warned when you do this you will loose all of your current incomplete downloads and I do not know that it will fix your problem either. Like I said earlier there was a prior version that had this problem but the next version fixed it for me.

Hope it fixes the problem if it doesn't I do not know what else to suggest.

Yeah, already tried that one.

Keep em comin. I hope I missed one.

Thanks
Lazlow
