Bug in latest Limewire... Has anyone noticed that if you tell Limewire to use 6 connections on a cable modem speed system, when you restart it, it will say 6 BUT ONLY USE FOUR. Every time, you have to go and type in "7", then it tells you you can only have 6, and starts using all 6. This is very annoying... |
I noticed it either. But nobody from the LimeWire staff really cares about our problems (like resuming download), and your problem. So don't expect it to be fixed. |
Source code is available, ever thought of helping out??? There's only so much they can do. |
One guy is an "Unregistered" and the other deseperatly tries to convince us he's not an newbie . My guess is they are too stupid to fix it themselfes . If they did know how they would not come whine inhere . |

LW is open source . Grab a copy and compile it yourself ! A Standard JRE enviroment comes included with the basic tools to compile it . I may not know how to spell right but I do know how LW works ! |
Whoa, my intention wasn't to insult you. I was trying to say that the developers probably have bigger badder bugs to work on, or they just can't track down this perticular bug. How do you know they aren't doing their best? You really shouldn't critisice the developers, especially when your sitting there leeching and not helping out. However, if you are a paying customer and own a copy of Limewire Pro, then you have my sincerest apologies. |
Well, first off, I have experienced a similar problem, though with different settings. Is there a known fix? Secondly, how many of you have actually downloaded limewire, isolated a bug, and fixed it yourself? Limewire is a few meg download, and that means a lot of code. I can do Java pretty well, but I still wouldn't try to fix my own limewire bugs unless I had a few days to dedicate to it. This is not something to suggest offhandedly. So lay off, as this is a bug that should be reported, so that eventually it will get fixed. -Amber_Method |
Sorry , haven't gotten enough sleep . I occasionaly find that LW tries to overwrite some settings in limewire.props even if I didn't alter any settings . I made the file read-only and the problem disappeared . Atleast for me . I heard that it didn't work for some people . |

I agree that bugs should be brought up. And I agree that some bugs are terrible, and should be fixed. But if you know anything about developing applications then you'd also know that sometimes, you have to find the bugs (in the code), before you can fix them. And finding bugs isn't always an easy task. What I'm trying to say is that if the bug has been brought up, and the developers are aware of it, then you can be sure that they are looking into it. Just because they haven't fixed it yet does NOT mean that they have abandoned it. And that's where I offered the suggestion that if you don't think the developers are capable enough, and you think you can do BETTER, then by all means try! The source is there. I'm sorry, but I cringe every time I hear complaints like this. |

Gotcha. 1. Limewire is probably going to release a new version with hashes soon. So why should they waste time improving an outdated download resume scheme? 2. I completely agree. Where are you developers? I sure hope you are coding something useful, and not throwing a big party with all of the money you have been making. (You could have at least invited me!!!) Anyways, if you REALLY want to get their attention, then I suggest you post to the developers mailing list which you can find on Limewire.org or just email Adam or Greg. No use bitching here especially if you know that nobody is listening. 3. Vinnie and his crew do a great job about replying to the public (sometimes too much). Limewire could definately learn a few things from them to improve their customer service. 4. You can't stop and drop everything because of a few bugs. A lot of the time, bugs are found while adding new features to a program. Besides, I haven't had ANY problems with Limewire, and I would personally LOVE to see hashes implemented RIGHT NOW. To hell with the few minor bugs that are ****ing off those unfortunate few. Heh, but that's just me :) |

Developers ARE working Don't criticize developers too much. They are a small team of a few persons (7 incuding commercials ?) and have to cope with other developers needs and discussions to also discuss about the shared Gnutella protocol issues and network safety and scalability. They work also with other LimeWire developers spread worldwide who send them suggestions of patches, and software behavior analysis. And yes, they can have some vacation, and have spare time, out of their job. So things won't get fixed at your immediate needs, but bugs ARE tracked and discussed. Even a single new feature will take weeks before being implemented. For example, internationalization is working since nearly 2 months, and should have been integrated in the 2.3 release. It will probably be there in 2.4. Some bugs are really difficult and correcting them collides with other works in progress or involves structural changes. They have priorities, and deadlines for their marketing needs. Having to pay 7 people is a huge task, and their work is honest. Open-Sourcing the software is a way to reduce the cost of the development, so it reduce the needs of aggressive advertizing, and LimeWire has already gained better support by its users because ads are carefully limited. |
RE: Limewire 2.3 Pro I bought Limewire Pro a week ago and have succesfully downloaded a few files, but have found a few glitches as well, especially in the Library and Help areas. As for fixes lets hope that they fix download problems first rather than ones like playing songs etc.. After all, what is the main purpose of Limewire anyway? |
