Do you see rubbish? Use the JUNK-box!

Hi
when you downloaded a junkfile, then MAKE IT ONE!

Just select it and click on the JUNKbox at your right!
So all other memebers/users know it is JUNK!

Nico1096 just to let you know I have labeled many files as junk but unfortunately when I search for the file again I see the same junk file but there is no trash can next to it. I don't know why but this feature does not seem to work for me.

I've downloaded a few (music) files that are marked as junk and have found nothing wrong with the files. They are exactly what they are meant to be and play / burn to CD with no problem whatsoever.

Obviously, these are music files. I wonder if certain organisations are taking time out to junk perfectly good files?

(I assume that the trash-can symbol means a file has been marked as trash? If this is the case then I think some people are marking perfectly good mp3 files as trash).

The junk filter has to be trained! Over time, it should learn what's really junk & what's not. If you find a good file that's marked as junk, highlight it & click on 'not junk'. This is how the filter learns what's what:) See the thread below, it's got some useful info
Junk Filter

Thanks birdy!

I had thought the junk symbol was based on what other peple had marked as junk (I had just downloaded LimeWire after a Windows reinstall, and a few weeks after last using LW, which was a previous version and none of the files were repeats of what I had downloaded before - I just assumed others had marked the files as junk). Now after quickly glancing at that thread I just relised that there is a Junk Filter in the Options of LimeWire - I never even knew that and I've been using LW off and on for a year! It's the first time I've ever noticed the junk symbol appearing in the search result, I can only assume it's linked to the version of LW I'm using (4.12.1, I think my previous version was 4.10.9 or something similar).

I don't understand why people are marking perfectly good files as junk.

I think some may have completely misunderstood what a junkfile is. Just because someone has a hard time getting the file it isn't junk.

Like right now I am reeeaaally slowly downloading a perfectly good videofile. The best one out there for sure of it's kind (I have previewed it) and junkrating says 20%.

When I right-click it I can not mark it as not junk, only as junk.

Do people mark a file as junk just because it says awaiting sources for a few days or because they don't have the right codec to play it ?

I am sure that was not the intension of the programmers when they made it part of Limewire

What I mean by JUNK

I sometimes download a file (which I think is okay, reading its title) and then after opening it, it appears to be a link to some sexprovider (of whatever you call this) with disgusting movies. For me that is JUNK ('cause I didn't ask for that, based on its title/name) and so I mark it as JUNK. When I want such a video I'll look for it. I don't want these type of files be forced upon me.
By the way, such a file often appears under a different title/name but with the same number of bits. Then I know enough......

I was talking about a perfectly good videofile that pretty much anyone would like to have. Nothing to do with porn. But it has taken a really long time to get. CD 1 was easy but it has taken me about a week to get CD 2

BTW use bitzi to look at the ratings for the file. Sure trust that a lot more than the socalled junkfilter.

right-click on searchresult choose advanced>lookup file with bitzi

By the way I have only used the filter for the 134.4 KB file so there is nothing from me that would make a 700+ MB file junk
