the shared files count at the bottom left of my screen says i have 10,227 shared files.

From the Main screen, select the Library tab, select the Shared Files dropdown in the upper left, that should show all files being shared.

hi gaandu,

that only shows the downloaded files.
i have nowhere near 10,000+ files downloaded.
there must be a way to see the files though.
thanks for your reply.

paul

You sound like you may have picked up a virus...
Check your Shared folder outside of Limewire...
Go to
Docs and setts
user name (yours)
Shared....

My suggestion would be to visit Norbiesworld, he will help you get rid of the virus.....Check this thread out, his link is at the bottom...

For fast & easy access, go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) & the folder will open up for you.

Apply same technique to any other folders you are sharing. Remember you can remove specific files for sharing by right-clicking them from the Library window & choosing not to share. Or vice versa

I was surprized at the number of types of files limewire allows from initial startup. It appeared to a novice that it would allow access to practically anly file on the computer.
I attempted to limit access only to mp3 files for the present as a security measure.

When you first install LW it asks you if you want to scan your hdd for files. You can choose not to allow it, but thats probably where all the files came from. I didn't allow it so i don't know what type of files it would find. I agree with you about security, better safe than sorry;).

hi,

thanks for your replies.
there must be a way to get to these hidden files, i tried the methods suggested and only found what is in my library.

while defragging my hard drive recently, it showed lots of EXE's of programmes, films and games that were not on my system before i started using limewire. . .

they are not taking up a lot of space, but i would like to have the choice of removing them all if i wish.

can anyone tell me how to find these files with limewire?

thanks,

paul

bubbletip,

That's a virus thats creating all those exe files. You should follow wondering why's advice and go to Norbie's World for help getting rid of it. Get registered and follow the instructions. Norbie is a computer expert and his help is FREE.

Good luck.

What OS shows this type of info from defragment window? (Using MS XPPro here.)
