Try downloading a file from here & tell us what speeds you get

How fast is your internet connection? You can do a speed test here

Who is your ISP? Have you tried using other p2p apps & does the same thing happen?

Dont know y but suddenly my total download speed does not pass the 50kbps, i used to download at 100 or more kbps when i had 1mega and now with 2,5 megas my downloads are much more slower when it is supposed to be all the opposite.
my firewall is desactivated and the limewire settings are as they used to be when i had 1mega. The time of the day is not the problem cause i have it activated almost all the day. I think the connections of me and the sharers is not the problem cause i have 2,5 megas and i only download files with lot of sharers.
speed stays in 50kbps either when i download 2 files or when i download 20, 30 or 40 files. it does not go up over it.
is somebody having the same problem as me, can somebody help me?
i'm using limewire since 2002 and this is the first time I'm thinking of changing this software for a similar one.

Hello,

First time here, so thank you first of all for creating this forum.

System; I have a 2.8gig, P4, 2gig ram system, connecting with DSL and I am running LimeWire pro 4.12.3.

Problem; Although "some" files download with only one source available, most of the downloads I am trying to use have multple sources. But, all of my files are sitting there with "need more sources" even though most have more than 10 sources to download from. I did try and define my searches, but I am still getting the same result. I tried to clear the download, and start them over, but same results. Am I doing something wrong? It says my connection speed is "turbo-charged" so I assume I am connected to the full extent possible. Reason is, right now I have 4 waiting in download and all 4 have at least 20 or more users, but none are downloading. I tried to leave it run over night, but woke up with none of them being started.

Next question; Do I need to stay in the same search window for the files to download faster or can I start another search and download?

Thank you for all your help.

No you don't need to keep the same search window open.

Beware of dud files. If you find you're getting high search results for popular copyright files, eg: 100 for one, 99 for the next, etc. then those will most likely be spammed fake results. Instead, look for those with 10 or 20 search results further down the results.

Doing repeat searches or varying your search for the same topic, can help find more sources.

Thank you for the advice, it helped.

Maybe you could help answer another question possibly? For instance, I am trying to download "Enigma - 15 Years after" and all the sources that have a # next to them, or not, none of them will download. I have tried them all. Should I just assume that although they show up, that in reality, there is no source to pull them from?

Thank you

Morriah

Hey, Ive had LimeWire for about 2 months now, and my downloads never exceed 5kb... i mean for a couple seconds I get 11kb-15kb but only like once a week.

I have Dial-up:mad: and I would just like to know if there is anyway I can speed up my downloads, My LimeWire Accelerator 4.10 doesn't work, and even getting PRO didn't work, BTW I have LimeWire Pro 4.12.3

Lord of the Rings July 13th, 2006 07:29 AM

You can't get faster downloads than that on dial up. Next step would be to upgrade your connection to broadband or cable, etc. And no, the LimeWire Accelerator does not work. It's a gimmick!

Man, I have talked to like 500 people about getting any fast speed, but I guess it just cant happen... So I am stuck with 5kbs until I can get T1 or something..

I used LW with dial up for 2 & half years. I understand the feeling. Even now I'm only using bottom end broadband since it's what I can afford & know it's unlimited downloads where I am.

Spookster23 July 13th, 2006 08:30 AM

I dunno it should be illegal to have speeds this slow...
