  | Can I *force* my computer to be an ultrapeer?
I used to use Limewire Pro 4.8.1 on WinXP Professional with a 2.3mbps connection, and whenever I connected to the Gnutella network I would always be an Ultrapeer (30+ connections) with all the perks: blazing fast downloads, excellent search results and the like.
However, since I've been running Limewire (same version) on WinXP Home I am always a leaf node, warts and all: sluggish downloads, awful search results etc.
Now, according to the Ultrapeer Election Criteria (http://www.limewire.com/developer/Ultrapeers.html ) my computer must have the following: No firewall. Suitable operating system. Sufficient bandwidth. Sufficient uptime.

Since my downgrade to XP Home, the only thing that has changed about my system is the OS.
Is the fact that I'm using XP Home the reason I can no longer be an Ultrapeer? Last edited by drummondjacob; June 19th, 2006 at 01:24 PM.
