Protecting My Computer Against Viruses

I want to know if I'm at serious risk of acquiring a virus through LimeWire.

And what are the best programs out there to protect myself?

And lastly, should every file be individualy scanned before opening?

Your second question:

AVG free Anti virus program

Anti malware (trial version that still can be used after the trial period)

To your last question:
Yes, you should scan all files you've downloaded individually

I use AVG and Lavasoft. A regular scan with these will find any viruses and bugs etc. If you are not sure about your downloads then if you right click on your download folder for music a drop down window should give you the option to "Scan with...." Then you can open your folder knowing it is clean.
My download folder is not on my main drive and well away from important things. Hope this helps
