Search by Artist or Title?

Normally I have no problem with Limewire but today I searched for music by (ARTIST) [edit] and found thousandsof tracks but could not download any.
Then I searched by TITLE and found the same (I think) [edit] tracks among other artists and could easily download any of them. Is someone putting a defense (by ARTIST) against downloads? Try it you'll see! http://www.gnutellaforums.com/images...s/confused.gif

No hint of a problem on BearShare. When you say "could not download any" do
you mean you couldn't get them on to the download list or are they showing up
in the download list and not doing anything?

I use a Mac not a PC (Bearshare) and the files appear on the download list with the # of hosts in double figures (20, 30, 40...) but when selected for download the message is "Awaiting sources"..."need more sources". The host cannot be browsed. I tried another P2P file-sharing app but the message is the same as I suppose the user/agent is still Limewire.

In your case it is likely that your ISP or their backbone provider is temporarily
blocking downloads to manage bandwidth costs. If you try other P2P networks
and your ISP's newsgroup server you will probably find another way that works
fast for now. They rarely manage to block everything at the same time. ;]

1.) What config/settings do you change to enable Limewire to search through the newsgroup server (port#119)? is it Listening port, firewall, proxy, DHCP, TCP/UDP port numbers?
2.) I don't have this problem with eDonkey..what is the difference ...could it be the default settings?

Use newsgroup browsing or leeching software, not LimeWire.
Do not use Outlook Express or any Microsoft product unless you want to be hacked. ;]

Your ISP is probably not blocking edonkey right now. Changing settings would
have no effect because the tools used to eavesdrop and censor your traffic
actually look inside the packets.
