Incomplete file...can't delete

Hello, I need help to delete an incomplete file that cannot be deleted because "it may be used by another application". Now I know I could use the unlocker thing but I don't think it works with window 98 SE.
Can anybody help me please?!?!

thanks

first, simply try rebooting and see if you can then delete the file..

if that fails, then reboot again and start hitting F8 when the boot sequence starts..this will bring up a boot options menu..choose safe mode...this should then enable you to delete the file in question...one note, safe mode does NOT use your standard video drivers, which in a nutshell means your whole desktop is going to get hosed as far as where you have all your icons located...you will have to move them back as you like after you reboot again to get back into normal operating mode

I think this one works with 98SE:

Well I just recently had the same problem and I went into My Computer. Clicked on C Drive. Clicked on documents and settings. Then under my name. and found a folder under incomplete and I deleted everything in it and my problem was solved. If you have issues finding which Incomplete folder it might be, before you delete it, see if it has album art in it or a lot of things like that, not just two icons that are weird. Hope it works out for ya.

Wow, thank you all for helping me, I didn't expect answers so quickly!!!:) I solved my problem by using safe mode, but I guess the other solutions could have worked too.
Anyway, thank you.

I know this is slightly off topic, sorry, but when I'm in the "Incomplete" folder, I have two items:

downloads
and
downloads.bak

Are they supposed to be there, as in, did they come with the Incomplete folder?

AaronWalkhouse July 24th, 2006 11:00 AM

They belong there, yes.

Lol, sorry for being a nub, but thanks :D
