Movie Problems

I have downloaded a movie ( ******** ) in mpg format...how do I put it on a DVD so it can be played in a DVD player...Is this possible? Is the quality any good...?
How about AVI files are they better?
This is my first attempt at movies...I thought I could just download and burn :o ...
Any Help or guidance appreciated...( Is it a waste of time downloading these movies...it took forever)
Thx.

You'll need a DVD burning program such as DVD Santa or Nero.
The quality of the DVD will depend at first on the quality of the downloaded video.

I have been using Roxio creator 8. works great but is really slow.

Lord of the Rings August 10th, 2006 04:21 PM

They all are. Roxio creator is great (I use Roxio Toast on Mac), & it's normal for the process of conversion to take a long time. It needs to convert the video before it burns it. ;) Keep in mind some videos are downsized to fit onto a single VCD or else, in parts to fit onto a few VCD's which helps maintain quality particularly if burning to DVD. hey LOR, do you ever have problems with movies that are xvid format. i know that i have dld two lately that cause roxio to shut down and want to reprort error. the only difference that i can find with these two is the xvid factor, is that an issue on a coincidence?
please help, thanks

i have dld two movies lately that say they are .avi but advanced properties lists them as xvids. they are the only two movies that crash my roxio. is it b/c of the xvid factor or is it just a coincidence?

You can try running the files through a fixer, but I personally think it's a waste of time...I have an xvid avi movie at the moment, whilst I can veiw it on the computer without any complications, it wont convert and burn, I just keep getting the error and needs to close message...So I just put it down to a faulty file and rated it on Bitzi to let others know....;)

So if I convert with that, would you then send the file to Sonic to burn...
What do you use???;)

foolofthehill August 11th, 2006 01:00 AM

I use Nero to burn.......but what do you mean with Sonic??
For video files that may need some fixes I usually use Videofixer, which has already fixed quite a lot of files....
