Confused.

I have been using Limewire for over a year now and recently was gone for a month. When i came back ...the library in my Limewire was empty. When i download new songs I don't know where they go and when i click on Shared files there is a window that says configure. Anyone have any idea what happened and how i can fix it. I did get a router when i got back and i am now using that. Could that have made a difference? Please help. thanks

To find out where your downloads are going, go tools > options > saving. That will show you the location of your saved folder (your shared folder may not always be in the same location as your saved, depending on how you've set up LW).

Or try using your computer's search to look for some of the file names... if they show up, you'll be able to see their location;)

Unless you've deleted the old files, they should still be around. Even so, it's always a good idea to back things up, just in case anything goes haywire!

shared folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Theresa\Shared is where both my saved and shared downloads are going to? How do i get them to go in Limewire library as that is where i want my downloads. thanks

The LW library goes where ever you want to put it but, you must understand, it is just another view of what is in Windows Explorer, and not something different or separate.

Therefore, if you, for example, create a directory called "Limewire" on your "C" drive and two further sub-directories called "Shared" and "Incomplete", so they look like the following:

C:\Limewire\Shared
C:\Limewire\Incomplete

You can then go into LW "Options" and set LW so that it sees your "Shared" sub-directory, LW will then auto set up your Library and find your "Incomplete sub-directory.

You can take it one step further by setting up a "Save" subdirectory as well but remember to tell LW, via it's "Options" menu where that sub-directory is.

Still confused

This is what happens......sorry to be a bother

Limewire opens ...i click on library .........to the left of the screen in a little box is Shared, Saved and Incomplete with little + signs. If i click on any of these nothing happens in the bigger box to the right where all my library could be viewed before. In the big box is a thingey that says Configure and i can click on it and when i do it it pops up a window that says you can choose the files for sharing and saving and gives C:\Documents and Settings\Theresa\Shared as location and also says these folders are displayed in library. But nothing in my library.. i know i must seem pretty daft but i miss listening to my music and it was such a simple procedure before. i just clicke on library and there were all my songs. have tried to download new ones and theu download but not showing in my library... Please help and be patiient with me as i am an old woman. thank you

Help Setting Up Limewire

It is obvious that you are going to need help in re-setting up Limewire because it will mean using the menu facilities. And unfortunately, I cannot help you with a series of screen prints because all postings are limited to attaching only a 100KB picture. But I will try to make my directions as simple as possible.

Open Windows Explorer and do the following:

1) Create a Directory, on your C:\ drive, called Limewire.

it should now like this: C:\Limewire

2) Under Limewire, create a subdirectory called Shared

C:\Limewire\Shared

3) Again, under Limewire, create a subdirectory called Incomplete

C:\Limewire\Incomplete

Now close Windows Explorer.

Next, open Limewire and click the menu option Tools.

You should now see the pop-up Option box similar to the attached screen print.

Now, click on "Saving" on the left hand side of the screen, then click the Browse button and highlight your new "C:\Limewire\Shared" folder.

Click on "Sharing" on the left hand side of the screen, again find and highlight your C:\Limewire\Shared" folder.

Finally, click the Apply and OK buttons at the bottom of the Option box.

Limewire will now make your new Library, download and share you files, from your "C:\Limewire\Shared" and store your incomplete files (partially downloaded files) in your "C:\Limewire\Incomplete" folder.

Good Luck.

Limewire will now make your new Library from your C:\Limewire\Shared" folder, i.e. download

Mozilla Firefox

Thank u so much for your help with Limewire. I will try and follow your directions with setting up the directories. I use Mozilla Firefox ......does that make a difference? can i still save everything in Windows explorer?

Windows Explorer is the userinterface of your PC and is not the same thing as Internet Explorer, so you should have no problems using Firefox as your internet browser. I use it myself :)
