Still can't get rid of wall!
 

I followed the steps on the firewall setup page. Both gnutella selections were checked, but where i put in the IP 127.0.0.1, when i went back to make sure it was right, it had my default computer name entered, not the IP. What is wrong?
Everything was followed exact.

why 127.0.0.1 ? That is allowing yourself access or am I wrong?

Please post more details. eg. what kind of firewall, router etc.

Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 w/all updates. Windows Firewall.
Internet Connection-Dell Wireless LAN mini card 802.11b/g-no router((home)speed usually idle at 18 Mbps or 24Mbps)
Intel Core Duo Proccesser

127.0.0.1 was the IP address that was mentioned in firewall setup. I never got too in depth on all my computer's info yet. Sorry for the shortage.

Also please link me to the guide that you followed. I don't really get why any guide would ask you to enter 127.0.0.1

Try leaving it empty or 0.0.0.0

How do you connect? Your wireless has to connect to something.

Do you live in a apartment building or a dorm etc. where you get free internet?

It is the XP firewall.
Now my wall is gone, don't know what i did, something to do with the listening port. i switched to manual port instead of UPnP, then switched back to UPnP, then the port number was changed auto. I went back to my firewall setting, went to the 2 gnutella selections and entered the 127.0.0.1 IP address and now the wall is gone.?Beats me! I do live in an apartment. I connect on unsecured wireless networks, or whichever network the card picks up. No wires going anywhere except my headphones, wireless internet out of the box. I have a Dell Inspiron E1405, wireless comes standard. The signal isnt the best in my location, but i go just go up to the front building (100 feet),different network i connect at an always stable speed of 54Mbps.I'm right now at 24Mbps.:cool:However if the network is a secured network, I can't connect without the WEP. {Had to edit this in, i guess i did the link think correctly after all. Sorry for the lack of info!}

There is your answer. Whatever it picks up is not the same setup every time. Some connection may have strong firewalls and other no firewall.

I really don't see the meaning in adding 127.0.0.1 or anything unless it was a networked firewall. And then it would still be better to have the exact IP for your PC. But in your case it probably changes a lot. That's the price you have to pay for leeching someone elses connection. I don't suppose getting your own is an option ;)

I only work with what I have available as of now. I do want to know though, would a wireless PCI adapter increase wireless reception, and how would i set up my own wireless network with out a cable modem or router?:)

I have no idea. I don't have problems with mine so, I never looked into it.
