These files are not complete.

The reason the filesize shows the size of the complete file is because most if not all P2P programs download random chunks of a file depending on what's available. These pieces then get put in the right place in the file when written to the harddisk. Some programs give you the choice of whether to allocate the space before download or not, and doing this is recommended. Limewire does this for you and you have no choice in the matter, which is actually a good thing.

I know that if you have space problems, this can be a bit annoying at times, but it's still for the best. This way your harddisk won't become as fragmented as it would otherwise be, and keeps performance as high as possible.

Default Ahaaaaa

Sleepness,

As mentioned above, aha!!

I notice the dim glow of a 20w lightbulb in the far distance... unless that's a locomotive bearing down on me.

Last question about this topic: should I have seen that (the advance allocation of file space per file) somewhere? I.E., is this a RTFM situation I stumbled into?

Take care, and thanks again,
Henry

This was not a RTFM question. Actually I think you're the first to ask it (At least since I joined this forum)

People sometimes ask what is taking up so much e space, but otherwise no.

Might be good to include it here:

Partly downloaded files that you cancel in the dowload window are not deleted from the incomplete folder, in case you want to continue them later. They should be deleted from them manually if not wanted. Same goes for previewed files. They are copied in the incomplete folder.

In case you do this outside of Limewire, DO NOT delete the Downloads.dat and Downloads.bak files unless you want to start clean, as they keep all the info on pending and completed downloads.
