Try using a stand alone programme like iTunes www.apple.com You can each have your own playlist ..share songs on both if you like, and sort them separately in any way you like. A sticky thread in Open discussion topics will tell you exactly how to do it if you need more information :)

Itunes is slow and full of useless features if you don't have an iPod.

So, what I suggest is get MediaMonkey www.mediamonkey.com
The best rated music manager in download.com

I guess burning to CD or listening to online radio are useless iTunes functions aren't they. I'd be interested to know exactly what "useless" functions you're refering to. iTunes is certainly not the best player out there. I notice mediamonkey is a commercial program which costs US $19.95 +. The free version only burns at 4 x speed. There's no Unlimited MP3 encoding. ie: the free mediamonkey version is rather limited. Whereas iTunes is totally free.

In the above scenario it could be easily sorted if you both logged into separate user accounts. Then both your downloads would go into separate user locations.

iTunes has an annoying habit of hanging for a few moments, but I wouldn't agree that it has many useless features whether or not you have an iPod, I use iTunes version 6 btw. Mediamonkey looks pretty good, but it being one of those Windows only progs, and me being a Mac user ..I'm biased :):)
