![]() I just converted a movie and was using DVD Santa, I selected the write speed (the lowest one) and pressed the Burn! button, all of the sudden and error box popped up with all of these letters on it. I clicked ok, it went away, and the thing said burn complete. It isnt though. Does it have to do with the blank DVD's Im using? Im using the Sony DVD-RW ones, should I try different blank DVD's? I was burning ********, 2 parts, by the way. Also, when I just put one of the blank DVD's into my laptop, the box that asks you what you want to do pops up. It says that it's a CD, and asks me if I want to burn a CD, stuff like that, but it says nothing about a DVD. I have a brand new Dell XPS, and it has a DVD burner. On my old laptop I even bought an external DVD burner and it still didnt work. The only thing I can think of is the blank DVD's being the problem, it's a shame though, I bought 10 for twenty bucks and Im pretty sure I can't get my money back (it's been almost a year). Can anyone confirm this, or have any more suggestions? __________________________________________________ Edited to comply with the House Rules. ![]() Joe I've never seen that pop up box before, it could very well have something to do with the discs you are using... Does you comp use - or + discs and is it RW compatible... ![]()

![]() Just another suggestion, and the absolute best in my opionion is AVSMedia.com. AVS Video Tools. It isnt free but it is by far the most easy to use. I have had it for a month and have downloaded and burned about 20 movies so it paid for it self in about 2 days. I have Nero and also tried I'm Too DVD Creator in which both suck in my opionion. AVS will let you try before you buy and once you try it and see how simple it is you won't use anything else. It will also compress the file to fit on one disc so none of that 2disc stuff you have to worry about. Hope this helps!! Last edited by Remoc; February 21st, 2007 at 04:08 AM. |

![]() You are using a good brand of media. Other good brands include Verbatim, Taiyo-Yuden, and Hitachi-Maxell. (Buy whatever's on sale!) By the way, I only use DVDRWs for temporary files...they are a lot more expensive than DVDRs. If it's a movie you want to keep, I would stick with DVDR, although DVDRWs are good for practicing on! Just something else to check...what disks will your DVD player accept? I would make sure that it will play DVDRW. Good Luck ![]() Dano P.S. I don't know if this will help, but I used to have problems with movie conversion programs crashing. I eventually discovered that it was a CODEC PACK that was screwing everything up! If you have one of these installed, you may want to try uninstalling it. Then, just download the DivX and XviD codecs from their respective websites. I use a program called AVICodec (free) that will identify which codecs I need for movies, although 99% are DivX or XviD (I only download .avi files). |

![]() Maybe it would be a good idea if you could state EXACTLY what is happening when you try to burn with Nero. Step by step. Are you converting to DVD format with Nero Vision? What speed are you burning at? Does Nero appear to be burning to DVD? Does it abort while burning? Does it say 'burn completed' (or something similar)? Can you check the DVD with your computer to see if there is anything on it? If it does burn, can you check the burn with Nero Drive Speed? (tests quality of burn - number closer to 100 is better) Do you have any codec packs installed? Which ones? If we can't solve your problem here, it would probably be a good idea to visit some video forums. Maybe if you browse some of the threads there, you will find a solution. Good Luck ![]() Dano P.S.
