I have found something that may be interesting for anyone using Lw...

I have found the official Dl link for Java 6.0 for Windows Xp Sp2, it accelerates LimeWire startup and download speeds, it's great!

Dark Guy March 22nd, 2007 01:15 PM

Are you sure you have Java installed correctly?, download the installer from the link up there
Do you have an open port and configured Lw to use it?
if not, please visit www.portforward.com for details on how to do that
Do your Isp blocks/trhotles p2p traffic?
call them to find out
What OS do you have?
Win Xp, Win Vista, Win 98,etc

Please answer and help us to help you

enemycombatant March 24th, 2007 01:25 PM

I downloaded that first link for Java, but how do you get the limewire files to download in the Java box?

Dark Guy March 24th, 2007 02:43 PM

Enemycombat, it was only the JRE 6, the other dl's are for developers

sam_the_seeker March 24th, 2007 07:52 PM

I give up! How do you force your ISP?? RE: Transfer Interrupted for upload status..I can receive files but cannot share..thx.

halo32007 March 25th, 2007 10:28 PM

Hmmmm...I've got to try this out....but I can't reply till tomorrow b/c it's like 2 in morning here....lol.

Dark Guy March 26th, 2007 05:10 PM

You cannot force your ISP to a thing, only switching to another Isp, if they're shaping P2P, talk to them or switch Isp

wptgirl April 13th, 2007 04:13 AM

once i download it it asks me for a pw? is that wierd?

sailinship April 13th, 2007 06:34 PM

Hello, I am new to all of this and have the same question. Which Java download?

Remoc April 13th, 2007 06:50 PM

I believe Dark Guy said in post # 7 That it is the JRE 6u 1. That is the one you want to download

Grandpa April 13th, 2007 07:08 PM

Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1

sailinship April 14th, 2007 08:59 AM

OK, thanks REMOC, but when I go to load it I am asked what features I want to install. I chose SE developement kit 6 update 1. Is that correct?

Remoc April 14th, 2007 10:22 AM

Hey ship, If your using windows, you want to download Java Runtime Enviro. Not JDK. This is what you want to look for JRE-6u-1 windows-i586-p-iftw.exe. Be sure you use the offline installer, not the recomended online installer.

sailinship April 14th, 2007 11:39 AM

Ok, but I already downloaded this jdk-6u1-windows-i586-p-iftw.exe, should I try to find and remove it?

sailinship April 14th, 2007 01:12 PM

OK, so I did just what was told and I did not see a .exe file on my desktop, where new downloads should show up. How do I know if I did it right?

Remoc April 14th, 2007 01:46 PM

Ship, If your in Limewire, click on Help at the top of the page and then click on, About Limewire. You will see the Limewire version and also the Java version you have. If your not in Limewire you can go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and you will see it there. It will not show up on your desktop but maybe in your tool bar. Not sure about that. It doesnt show up either place for me. Not sure if that is an option

sailinship April 19th, 2007 09:33 PM

I got it working now, thanks.
