ok, i want avi. i dont happen to have any funding right now... what to do to get it for free? i really want to see some avi files ive seen here and there

oh yeah... and right now im using windows media player. so far all i can watch/listen to is mp3 mpg mpeg and i think ive played an mp4 or 2

hmm... it wasnt wanting to open up... it was like i clicked it and a little bar came up in the corner with no list and non of my Windows Media Player files were working... i got rid of it.. any more clues for me?

oh, and bear with me, i realize there can be huge gaps in between my responses or activity. this is because im on my laptop which i take up to my room to jam:PEACE: or something and i dont have enternet up there quite yet... so sorry

That's very strange for VLC not to work. Anyhow, try getting some codecs for your WMP. See the link below (I've used the XP codec pack)

yeah... im a retard to all this... im just kinda getting into the whole programing deal... codecs? its like talkin to somone on mars i know..but if you could use the good old fashion computer illiterate language for me.. that'd be great.

all i know is that i cant get the WMP 1.1 or upgrad thing. cause i dont have windows xp somethin 2.

i just wana play avis... WMP came with the machine.. when i got the little orange and white cone lookin thing it just came up a little rectangle like i dunno... 3 by 1 inches wide/tall(respectively). and all the movies i had would not play at all. if im doing something retarded with the VLC *i think thats it* then please help me out if im not too much of a nuisance. or if i can just get something to play avis only or should i get rid of WMP or what? to put it simply.. i have no idea what im doing...

I use something called GOM Player It has no problem playing mp4 or avi's and it's free at.

Further down that CODEC list Birdy posted are mPlayer and Media Player Classic. Then supplement Media Player Classic (MPC)with the XP Codec Pack (it has MPC in the pack but use the download from the CODEC list, since that will always be newest version)
