how to avoid certain results

I keep getting results on any search that are 277kb and when opened they are bogus files with Bill Clinton imitator on an iPod screen. what's up with that, and how can I keep those results from showing up and wasting my time. What I've been doing is blocking the hosts, and then going to repeat search. is there a better way?

One way to avoid this problem is to NOT download anything smaller than 2000kb.
You should know that most songs are larger than 277kb. I would say the average audio file is somewhere in the range of 3000kb to 6000kb depending on the bitrate.
Another indication to leave the file alone is if there is no bitrate.

Also try filtering out the following file extensions for a much better search result. .wma, .exe, .rar, .html, .com, .zip, .mov. Go to Tools > Options > Filters > Keywords. After you put the extensions in to block, hit apply and then OK. This will clean up a ton of crap. Also see link below

This thread is long but it has some helpful info. Junk Filter
Hope this helps..:D

Fellow Texan comes to the rescue!!

Remoc,
Seeing that longhorn on your reply, told me I was in good hands and I was right. The info you gave me did the trick as far as filtering out a lot of crap and I really appreciate it. I guess the only problem I still have is that the 277kb files seem to only be mpg files and I can't filter them because that is what most music videos are. What I've been doing is blocking the host, and then repeating the search. There seems to be an unlimited number of these hosts, but I don't know any other way of filtering them. Once again, thanks so much for the help. Go Longhorns!!!

Blocking Host

I had the same problem–I'd see lots of tiny, same-size files repeating my search criteria. So, I started to "block host" every time one popped up. Now, they're rare.

However, it seems that blocking these hosts has also reduced considerably the number of hosts with .mp3, .wav and .aif files to share.

At last count, my number of blocked hosts is in excess of 300.

I wonder if there's a way to search an individual blocked host IP address with LimeWire in case I should leave it unblocked, to access tunes?
