Cant play songs in limewire media player

I cant seem to play songs off limewire on the limewire media player.
Everytime I load a song into the playlist from the library it will not play, and when I load several songs into the playlist the text flashes on the playlist.
What could be the problem. :)

grahamc,

Have you been able to play songs using the LW player in the past? To be honest, the LW player's pretty awful... my best advice would be to disable it (tools > options > player) & use another player:)

But if you really want to use it, try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 here & also point 2 if you've used older versions of LW in the past (there could be a folder in either location).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings withinLW's tools > options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things. If you're not sure of your settings, go through LW's tools > options & write them all down, so that you can reset things later.
In case you're using Vista: LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista

david1957,

What program are you using to burn CDs? Are you getting an error message when you try to burn a CD?

Are you trying to add songs from LW's library to burn? If you are, add songs from your saved folder instead... go to LW's library, click on Saved Files > highlight a file > click Explore (bottom left).
Now your saved folder will open - this is where you need to add files from, when burning a CD.

Check out the threads below for more info.

Unless you're sure that your player can play mp3 CDs, make sure to burn an Audio CD. Most older players won't be able to play an mp3 CD;)
Also check which type of CD you're using - many players can't play CD-RW (rewritable CDs that you can use over & over again). So maybe start off with a CD-R disc.

I had a similar problem today in that the audio file I just down-loaded will not launch. Just last week everything worked fine. When I try to play the audio file from my mydocuments folder, it opens an error dialog box saying that the file I am trying to open has an .mp3 filename and am I sure I want to open it. When I indicate "yes", it opens an internet download sequence, which subsequently activates a virus scan. Nothing ever happens. But all my previously downloaded .mp3 files work just fine. Ever seen this before? What's wrong?
