Any clues (Hdd crashed, lost files)
 

I had a problem with my other pc and I had to change it and all my songs on that pc and limewire is gone how do i get them back, all my favourites 1700 of them gone I need help,

Have you tried a computer search, using the search & typing in .mp3 or whichever type of audio file you normally downloaded? It may point you to where they are.

No they are on a other pc, that one had a major crash, all on the pc was lost, now I have a new pc but i need my songs and the hardisk on the other pc is fried

What assistance are you asking?

now that is the question of the year now isn't it?

I mean really, the old HDD with all of the files on it is fried...which one would assume means that all files on it are unrecoverable....

I guess this person wants God to point his finger down and magically recover the files and move them to her (Mina is a female name) new computer.....:w00t:

its quite possible you had a crash, and yes the OS was hosed, but what makes you decide the files on it are lost? did some 'computer techy' from Best Buy convince you of this so that you would buy a whole new machine??? I mean really, at most all you needed was a new HDD and to reload the OS...at worst that would cost $200 for a new drive and an OEM copy of your OS....The_Point being that you can probably hook the old HDD up to your new machine (which was a stupid waste of money most likely) and see if it is even recognized as a drive, at which point if it is you should be able to find some if not all of your files on it..

The whole pc went up in flames so that is how I know, my hubby tried to fix something and then we hear a boom and the whole thing burned, funny really but not so funny for me, my insurance doesnt cover pc fires

hmmmm...well, your HDD still might be functional...I had a computer fry once (30 seconds after turning it on for the first time) and it was the mother board that went...it took the power supply with it, but all other items were still intact...sure, lots of smoke, but various factors prevent any real fire...

if you still have it, then try and hook the HDD up to your new machine and see if it still works...and obviously, do this with the machine turned off and the the power supply's on off switch turned to off...its actually a good idea to leave it plugged in (remember, the on off switch is OFF) because this leaves the unit grounded....its still probably wise to use an anti static strap just in case...

Done all that all is black nothing works, well then i guess i must consider it all gone ty anyway

your only choice is to start over again from scratch....there is no other way (besides God magically restoring your files)
