Spanish Language Available (Disponible en Castellano) Hi Everyone Well, I'm almost finished (probabily 10% to be done) but I can NOT get to try my new file... This is what I've done so far: 1. DL'd the file to my $HOME/phex_3.2.0.102/lib/ext directory (I created the ext directory BTW) 2. Icreated a new file named "language.list" only containing "es_MX" 3. Translated the downloaded file and saved it as: "Lang_es_MX.properties 4. I don't get to see my language in the settings :bangh:... so there must be something wrong (or maybe the info is a little outdated ;=)) Hope you can give me some hints to try it out... Kind Regards Luis PS. I've tried with the original file renaming it but there's no go :( PS2: Maybe the exa mple in the wikki is for M$ Win tree structure? |
Please try to move the ext directory to: $HOME/phex_3.2.0.102/ext |
This is very good news ! When it is completed and all is OK, then it would be a very good idea to go to HispaMP3 and update the info for Phex to inform people that it is now ¡ disponible en español ! When I did that with Shareaza (the original one, about 287 years ago !) the Spanish language user base increased enormously. btw... The version of Phex as listed at HispaMP3 is way out of date ! It's 2.08 or something ! |

Thanks a lot Gregor... I'll post some news after it is tested Quote:

However, I have some typos I must check and also I'm already trying to have the es_MX and es_ES at the same time.. I hope my spanish friends like it ;) Some examples: Quote:
Cheers Luis PD: Por cierto.. fui radio aficionado NOTE: I can't see the accents and letters like "ñ" "Ñ" only strange caracters.... will this be corrected when it is re-compiled?? (if it ever is :D) |
1 Attachment(s) Ok. Now it's finished:yahoo: I need someone to test it thoroughly (like Úrsula and someone who has enough knowledge in spanish and its grammar. IGrab the zip file attached (only es_MX) and test it thoroughly SVP. I accept all kind of comments and remarks related to the translation so don't hesitate in bitching me ...:nono: The es_ES file will be ready when I have seen there are not any kind of tppo or grammar mistakes. Kind Regards Luis |

Cool! Shall I already add the current version, or do you prefer to fix it up completely, first? |

This is of course difficult to write easily. Thats why there is the tool native2ascii coming with the JDK. I would suggest you two approaches. Either make your translation into a Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties file saved in UTF8 encoding and then run the native2ascii tool: native2ascii -encoding UTF8 Lang_en_MX.utf8.properties Lang_en_MX.properties Or use the Gettext PO format which also gives you the possibility to use a wide range of Gettext editors. With the tool prop2po and po2prop you can convert your files in either way. http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/prop2po |

In some places, and I don't understand why, the word "servidor" (server) is used, but this is not our case I believe. Wel, having lived in Ibiza for some time, (but I have also been in Andalucía and Madrid) you get the idea of how Languages work ;=) I was only one time in Palma de Mallorca.... that was just a dream.... (I really miss it) Abrazos Luis |

Not yet Arne, I have already fixed all my typpos but I'm still revising everything, I dont like people to pick on me for a bad translation (which will be just fine). Kind Regards Luis PS. In a few hours I'll post both version altogether |

I still don't get very well your approaches but let me tell you some... I'll come back and re-edit this post to make comments on what your are suggesting me. Firstly I mus find out what you are saying... (I know about the "po" files but I've never used such a text editor... so firstly I'll get involved before saying nonsenses. Kind Regards EDIT: GregorK. As I promised.... Ok the files WERE converted to ISO-8859-15 and now I can see the accents... I use "gedit" and I did not know about this... but now they seem to work just fine Luis |
Done ..... 1 Attachment(s) The files are ready to be used.! Sorry for the delay Kind Regards Luis EDIT.... sorry there are 2 typpos I forgot to fix in the menu... I 'll upload the zip file again shortly EDIT 2. Files are now ready |
And they are in! Many thanks! |
:super: |
Now we only have to get the release done. @Gregor: Could you write a short guide how to do a release and which tools are needed for that (and which kinds of machines)? |
@Arne Sorry for being a pain in the butt... When you said the spanish translation "is in", you meant to say it is available in the trunk? (for svn?)... Will it be included in the binaries (Mac and Wni)? and if so.... how soon? The reason why I ask u this is 'cause I'd like to post in Mandriva Spanish Forum a tinny howto for Phex and most probabily in some other distros. Kind Regards Luis |
Hi. I've already built Phex from source... I'm very happy to see the "build 103" :super: and it was built with no single issue... (that was wundervar).... So my previous question is already answered as I suppose the next build for binaries will be the same (that's NOMB I kknow), Ok. so I have answered my own question, however, thanks a lot and Kind Regards Luis C. Suárez |
:) The next release will be out as soon as Gregor gets to a machine where he can start the release process. The release notes are already written - wait! They now need an addition: "- GUI: Spanish and mexican localization added (thanks to Luis)." Should we attribute it to you with your full name? Best wishes, Arne |
The release notes are avaible in the Development Forum of Phex: - http://www.gnutellaforums.com/develo...-prepared.html I'd be glad, if you could take a look (and suggest improvements). |
Hi Arne. You can use my nickname "LuisC-SM" which is the one I actually use in all forums since 2005 (lucasuam was used since 1999 but I change it 'cause I did'nt like eversince :() or You can use my full name "Luis C. Suárez M. I'll leave it up to you. I'll be glad to take a look and post any suggestion, if any come up to my mind :D. And thanks for your kind explanatin Kind Regards Luis. C. S. M. |
I went for "LuisC-SM", because with that people can also find your posts in the Ubuntu Forums (and others). Best wishes, Arne |

I have posts in lots of forums with that nick, to mention some: Ubuntu, Mandriva, openSuse, PCLinux, Gentoo, Xandros, Linspire, Howtoforge, and some other I can't recall. Thanks a lot Arne and hope to be useful in the futeure to translate the wikki.. (that's a hard one as long as I've never been able to translate in anywikki.. I've always found it confused.. so I must first learn a little bit about it) Kind Regards Luis C. |
The wiki needs some love anyway... it's not as accessible to new users as it should be. So, if you see things on the english pages which could be better, don't refrain from fixing them :) And since I didn't say it yet: The spanish localization looks very nice! Best wishes, Arne |
True, Gnutella for users is a little bit easier but I'm still stucked with some words. I see your English, by far, much better than mine. I see no need to fix anything. However, If I see something that could be explained in a "easier" way, then I'll sure take your advise. And thanks for your last words. I've been a little bit involved with p2p programs so I mostly know the words even though I still don't remember the word "Leaf". I perfectly know what it means in a p2p way but I just can't remember the "mexican" way it should be translated into. Weird but true. Kind Regards Luis |
Spansih translation finished 1 Attachment(s) Ok. Now I've finished translation with the last part included. Some minor fixes were required. However, I must add some remarks about the "Filter Port" Dialog:
IMHO, the missing text is not necessary as they are obvious. So, enclosed, you'll find the 2 translatons already fixed and ready to be included in the next release. Sorry for the delay but I've been very busy with my family and my own work. Kind Regards Luis C. S.M. PS. Spanish speaking people, please, feel free to make any comments and remarks. The idea is that everyone can understand the translated text. Any help/critics will be very appreciated. Gente de habla hispana, por favor cualquier comentario, crítica u observación, son siempre bienvenidos. EDIT: The new dialogs DO NOT seem to work :bangh: EDIT2 My bad. I changed a word that SHOULD'NT be translated. This was making the scanning ports at the beginning freeze. Now is corrected (I hope ) |
Great! I put the updated translations into SVN. No hablo suficientemente español para corregir... (yes, I used a dictionary for suficientemente, and I'm not quite that sure about the grammar in "corregir" :) ). |
@Arne. Thanks for your reply. The new dialogs still don't work. as my first EDIT states... They are translated but it seems that there is a mistake (or typo) from your side that does not show the Filter Ports Dialog box in Spanish. In my EDIT2 I meant to say that I had made a mistake changing some values (which in my opinion should be translated) but I left them as they were before 'cuase they were freezing the Hosts tab. Sorry if I was not so clear. So, if you want to leave this dialog box untranslated, for me is just Ok... I just wanted to clarify. Other than taht... ust go for it... :super: Kind Regards Luis C. |
Message update for menu>settings>filtered ports This is just an update to inform that today, after recompiling the source code, (svn) I can now read the Spanish text translated. Kind Regards Luis |
Thanks for the info! Besides: It's great to have you here! |
