A bit of information helps us! Computer model, OS (just OSX does not help)
Which Browser you are using to download Limewire and where are you downloading it from. Are you up to date with Apple software updates, in particular security, which includes Java? Are you trying to install from a dmg file?

Let us know some details, otherwise we are totally in the dark

haha...sorry...i'm using the latest edition of osx....just purchased my ibook...i am trying to install it from a DMG file, which is now telling me that a more recent version is already installed on the drive, and then wont install...i am using Safari, and i have downloaded the latest updates.
Hope this helps,
Nick

As you are using OSX 10.4.x there may be an issue I don't know about. although some recently purchased macs are still using OSX 10.3.9

You have not said where you got the earlier or the later version of Limewire from.
Did they both come from www.limewire.com

And when you uninstalled did you remove Install LimeWire.pkg from Library>recieipts, as well as the preferences folder

Running: Repair Disk Permissions after again removing all LW Components and before trying a fresh install might be a good idea.

That's all I can think of for now.
