Can you please help me?

Sorry if this question was asked already but I can’t figure out the solution. I downloaded Limewire Basic and when it was finished downloading I double click the Limewire icon to install and it shows up in the dock then closes after a few seconds. This is really frustrating. What do I do? I have a Mac OSX by the way.

Check Major Topics for OSX Installation Help

That didn't help. =[ Is anyone having the same problem as me, and does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Reinstall Java. And yes... if you had have checked every one of those points you'd have an answer. So don't nag if you're too lazy to try the techniques. If you don't want to go to the effort of finding the solution to "your" problem then don't use the program.

Excuse me but I spent about an hour reading that ALL the techniques so don't tell me I'm nagging, I tried my best to find out the problem but I missed it, sorry. Just my opinion.

K ... try point 8 (get the nightly build) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36374. See if that helps. :)

xholly25x September 20th, 2006 06:40 PM

I just read that right before you posted it. :) I'm sorry if I came off as being rude its just that i'm so confused with all this LW stuff right now and it seems like nothing is working for me. I just tried downloading Java and then the nightly build, and it came out as a document (and btw, all the time when i download things, they come out as documents, so I can never download anything) so when i downloaded Java it came out as a document and said, there is no specific application to open this document. This is so confusing to me and i'm trying my best to fix this. And it would be so nice if I could have same help. :)

Don't use Explorer because it's not totally OSX compatible; it can't handle many OSX formats. Instead use Safari or another browser. You can find Safari by going to the Go menu, choose Applications, then safari.

This problem is generally Java related. But it's hard to know. We can only give suggestions since the solution might be a little different for each person. ;) :)

Actually, I'm using Safari, but the problem i'm having is that when I try to download Java to reinstall it and nightly build, it says its a document and then says there is no specific application to open this document. And also, when I download limewire, it downloads fine, but then something comes up saying Double-Click To Install, so I did that and then the limewire icon on the desk-top opened then 2 seconds later, closed. That's where my problems are. :(

Did you try a safe boot & repair permissions?

That's odd for Safari. Control-click the dmg file & choose open with ... & find Disk Copy on the list (or image mounter is best.) If not there, then choose other & search for it. It's found in the Utilities folder.
