problem solved! (i think) okay guys- in order to download the installer, try increasing its memory by about 1000k. then it should download fine. |
How do I do that (increase the memory)? I'm not a technical genius like some of you! I just want my music! Thanks in advance! |

installer corrupt I had the same problem on my '99 Powerbook G3. I restarted with extensions off (hold down the shift key while restarting), and it installed successfully. (Then restart again without holding any keys down before running the program). Give it a shot; this might work for you. But I still can't connect to the server. On my '01 G4, it installed OK and connects fine. Go figure. |
Guys Guys, Please re download the installer and try again. It will fix your problems. |
pfffft that re-install advice is CRAP. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr if anyone has tried stuff thats actually worked from advice given to them on this forum, pleeeeeeeeeeease post a reply. ive tried the advice on these forums and none of them are working. and i JUST reformatted my hard drive! im really starting to get angry. i thought id FINALLY found a decent mp3 share program that wasnt about to get shut down by some stroppy muso with a lot of money. but the slow response by the limewire people to this install problem is yet another example of how overlooked mac users are when it comes to the internet. it bites. :( |
What version of LimeWire did you download? MACINTOSH (OS 8.1+ w/ 64MB min RAM. or Macintosh No VM* |
Corrupt Installer My daughter has the "Corrupt Installer" problem. This morning I checked under FAQ and found this information: Q: I am trying to install LimeWire on the Mac, and I keep getting an error message saying that the installer is corrupt. What can I do?? A: Increase the preferred size of the installer in the "Get Info" window for the installer file, and then run the installer again. If the installer gives you another error, reboot your computer and run the installer one last time. In order to increase memory you need to click on the installer icon to highlight it, which activates the Finder. Then look under "File" and scroll down to "Get Info". When the box comes up, click on the drop-down panel that says "General Information" and you have a second item labeled "Memory" where you can change the numbers. An earlier poster suggested increasing it by 1000. I don't know if this will help, but it is worth a try. :) |
Thanks for finding it Becky. Please read the FAQ page before posting. |
