download/install -- HELP! LimeWire, Up to this point, I have been (and still am) using LimeWire 1.8 for Macs. I tried to download LimeWire Basic 2.8.5 about 3 or 4 times now. The download process takes about 4 minutes and at the end of it --(LimeWireMac.bin)-- appears in my "download manager" folder on my iMac (O.S. 9.2) as a document. When I double-click on this, I get this message... "The document LimeWireMac.bin could not be opened because the application program that created it could not be found". Sometimes the installer icon (for 1.8 or 2.8 / not sure) appears with [ LimeWire_Installer ] below it. Clicking on this produces the following message... " The application program "LimeWire_Installer" could not be opened, because an error of the type -39 occured." I have "Stuffit STD 7 Classic and Stuffit STD 701 Classic" and I followed all of the down- load procedures, but I still can't get to the installer for 2.8.5 , or make anything work. Do you have any ideas of what I have to do to get or find the installer, complete the installation, and finally use the program? Any help you can give me will be GREATLY appreciated. .......THANKS !!! ........... JIM Bilgrien .......... ( jbtbilg@charter.net ). |
Check to see if you have the latest version of Apple's MRJ (Mac OS Runtime For Java) Download MRJ. You can also download the latest version of LimeWire. Please download LimeWire from the link I gave you. I hope this help. If you still have problems. Let me know in this topic. Thanks. Edit: Please download and install MRJ before you download LimeWire. |
