I have QuickTime and iTunes installed also. When I download an MP3 from LimeWire its already in QuickTime format. I'm not sure how help you from here. Maybe you could open your QuickTime settings and go to the pull down menu and come down to Browser Plug-in. From there click MIME Settings there will be an option that says MP3 make sure you have it set to "Do not use QuickTime." After that try to download a song from LimeWire and see what happens. It should download as a QuickTime file. I'm not sure if this will work. Let me know if it works or not. Good luck.

What version of QuickTime do you have?

channy_86 May 18th, 2003 12:39 PM

i have QuickTime Version Six. Do I need a better version?

spearson May 18th, 2003 02:11 PM

I think your fine. The latest version of QuickTime for Mac OS 9x is 6.0.3. I don't think it maters that much if you have the latest version. Here are two things you could try. Make sure you have all the files for QuickTime installed. To find out search for "QuickTime Updater." And open it. If it tells you that it need to install some files let it install them. If it says that all of the QuickTime software you have installed is up to date. Then your ok. Next thing is to download a song from LimeWire and try to open it. If it wont open try opening it from with in QuickTime. Good luck. Last of all is that I could send you a song that I have downloaded and see if you can open it? Here is a question for you. Do you want your songs to open up in QuickTime or iTunes?

channy_86 May 18th, 2003 04:54 PM

well, I'd prefer them to open up in iTunes, but i think i know how to switch them to iTunes if that is not possible.

channy_86 May 18th, 2003 05:25 PM

well, I checked my QuickTime and it says that all the files I need, I have. So that's out. I also downloaded a new song and tried to play it in QuickTime. That didn't work either. I also tried to play it in my iTunes. I don't know what is wrong. :( If you have any more ideas or suggestions, I'm open for anything. However, if nothing works, do you know of any other programs like LimeWire that are free and support Macs? A program that I can download some music off of? Thanks for all your help.
